SINGAPORE: The Singapore Economic Development Board ( EDB) will have a new managing director from next year, with , Mr Jermaine Loy taking over the role, the Ministry of Trade and Industry ( MTI ) said on Thursday ( Nov 21 ).
On January 1, 2025, Mr. Loy will take over the position of EDB’s handling director-designate and begin in March.
He will replace , Ms Jacqueline Poh, who is stepping down as EDB managing director from Mar 1 and will join MTI as deputy secretary ( industry ) on the same date.
The , current principal private secretary ( PPS) to Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Mr Loy joined the Prime Minister’s Office ( PMO ) in April 2021.  ,
Prior to joining PMO, he served as the Ministry of National Development’s top producer for the land-use needs of Singapore from August 2017 to March 2021.  ,
Additionally, Mr. Loy serves on the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s board of directors, having previously held roles at the Ministry of Health and MTI.
When he assumes the role of managing director, he may be appointed as a member of the EDB table, while Ms. Poh will continue to serve as an a  board part until she leaves.
Before Ms Poh’s nomination as EDB managing producer on Oct 4, 2021,  , she was the assistant director in the PMO’s plan party. She served as the former Infocommunications Development Authority’s managing director and the government technology agency of Singapore’s ( GovTech ) founding chief executive.
She likewise held important posts at the Ministry of Defense, Finance, and Manpower.  ,
” In her three-year career as managing director of EDB, Ms Poh led the company to achieve powerful funding commitments as Singapore’s business recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic”, MTI said.  ,
Her accomplishments included “record purchase commitments in 2022 reaching EDB’s targets”.  ,
These accomplishments came at the expense of a difficult world operating environment with a focus on scientific advancement, global tax reforms, and geopolitical uncertainty, the ministry continued.  ,
