Daniel Goh says Workers’ Party disciplinary committee formed to investigate his Facebook posts on Raeesah Khan

SINGAPORE: Workers’ Party (WP) cadre member Daniel Goh said on Saturday (Sep 3) that the party offers convened a disciplinary committee to look in to his Facebook articles on Raeesah Khan.  

The posts associated with how the Workers’ Celebration handled the “Raeesah Khan matter” within Parliament, he stated on Facebook.  

Ms Khan had stepped down within November last year after acknowledging to lying in Parliament . She was found guilty of abusing parliamentary privilege plus fined S$35, 000, while party commanders Pritam Singh plus Faisal Manap had been referred to the public prosecutor after investigations with the Committee of Liberties.

When approached by CNA, a Workers’ Party spokesperson declined to comment on the matter.  

The former Non-Constituency Member of Parliament, who is currently associate provost associated with undergraduate education at the National University of Singapore, said the committee has known as him up for a job interview “to hear the reason why and rationale” behind his public claims.

According to Assoc Provost Goh, their posts were said to have “revealed the particular inner workings from the Parliamentary caucus from the WP Members associated with Parliament, and allowed our political opponents to have an inside understanding of how the WP operates”.

His content were also said to have “cast the cloud over the personality of the leadership from the WP”, he had written.

Assoc Provost  Goh said that they have declined to attend the interview as he offers “nothing more to say about the questions that were publicly posted last year”, adding which he has “been crystal clear about the reasons and rationale in all those posts”.

“I have not been related to party matters since i have stepped down through my duties at the begining of 2020. My Fb posts were queries based on public information, ” he said.

“The party leadership had not made any kind of special  communications with party members for the Raeesah Khan matter. I did not receive any additional information as a cadre member. The party leadership only came forward with more information on their handling of the matter right after my posts. ” 

When questioned by CNA in the event that he intends to remain a member of the Workers’ Party in light of the situation, Assoc Provost Goh said that he sees “no reason to resign” through the party “just since the leadership does not such as my questioning”.
