Commentary: How a Hollywood movie helps fill in the blanks of the miraculous Thai cave rescue

AN AUTHENTIC RETELLING

The movie concentrates on the rescuers, particularly on British give divers Stanton plus Volanthen, played by Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings) and Colin Farrell (In Bruges, The particular Batman), respectively.

The team at the rear of the movie took great efforts to ensure it was an authentic retelling from the rescue mission. This included making sure that the particular Thai cast who have played the boys’ families spoke within Northern dialect.

The smallest of information was not overlooked –  car licence discs, uniforms, and even the press passes had been accurate to the real-life event. Small nods to Thai tradition and customs had been also sprinkled in to round off the impact.

The give and its surrounding locations were faithfully recreated and captured simply by Thai cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, even though the film was mostly photo in Australia.

The extreme problems of the flooded Tham Luang cave had been also depicted convincingly, as divers fought with almost zero visibility, craggy stones and tight pathways, where they didn’t want to squeeze through without having taking off their o2 tanks.
