” All my educators and consumers were elated. I received lots of information today”, said Mr Dalston Koh,  , who runs SG Golf Coach Academy at Mandai. ” We were while shocked as we were when we learned that it was going to be closed as we were when we learned that it will be extended.”
Mr Koh, who is also a professional golfer,  , described it as a day of” thank you”. ” We do not know what went right or who to thank”, he added.
The Singapore Golf Association’s (SGA ) public administrator Joshua Ho said the organization was “pleased” to speak of the two- year contract extension.
” It was a very good, comfortable surprise”, said , Mr Daren Lim, who initially started golfing at the Mandai lessons about 30 years ago when he was also a young person.  ,
While Mr Lim instructors at , Tanah Merah Country Club, he likewise conducts classes at the Mandai golf lessons.
” Mandai welcomes everyone to understand the sport game it”, he added. ” Any manager that wants to bring their pupil it, they are welcome”.
After its lease expires on December 31st, a new outdoor experience learning center will be needed in place of the Mandai golf course, which was first announced in February.
Eight outdoor experience education sites will be combined with four areas by the Ministry of Education ( MOE), allowing all schools to host top primary and lower extra cohort camps there.
The existing MOE outside experience learning center at Dairy Farm, located in Bukit Timah, as well as two brand-new areas to be constructed in Mandai and Sembawang, are the four unified sites.
” The Ministry of Education’s ideas for the Outdoor Adventure Learning Centres, which , were made in consultation with various federal agencies, are  , not affected by Mandai Executive Golf Course’s rental extension”, said MOE in response to questions from CNA.
Mr. Koh claimed that since the closing of the Mandai course first became public, he had been losing clients.
” We were nothing, we were basically losing clients”, he said. Clients were unwilling to continue taking lessons or signing lengthy contracts. Consumers were reducing their lessons, from signing three weeks to a month. We did not have that distinct option”.
HOPE AMID A “STRESSFUL” Possible
The , Mandai golf lessons,  , located at Upper Seletar Reservoir, was opened in 1993. Nevertheless, it appears that it will eventually resemble the closure of Singapore’s golf courses and peaks, which have been closed for a while.
Recently, Singapore had 14 secret and three people sport courses- including Mandai Executive Golf Course-  , taking up 1, 500ha of property.  ,
Of the two different public golf courses, Champions Public Golf Course closed on Dec 26, 2023, according to a see on its website.  ,
However, Marina Bay Golf Course may be closing down immediately on Jun 30, according to “imminent property rent expiry”, as stated on its site.
Given that the extension is only for two years, Mr Koh admitted it was” stressful” thinking about the future beyond that.
Questions remain regarding upcoming convenience for members of the public and whether the plan is to renovate existing courses or build new ones to meet the requirement, he said.
” Without Mandai, I actually do n’t see any other golf course that can cater to real beginners coming in to play”, he said. ” ( When the leases for the course expire ) where else will people go”?
” Actually, golf has been growing, especially among the younger generation. Mandai is the best place for those who want to learn the game because it has a lot to sell. It is the only area where the sport can flourish. If the area goes, that’s really sad”, said Mr Lim.
He added that he hopes the state will revisit plans to construct the Mandai outdoor experience learning center.  ,
