Clearing immigration in under 1 minute: Trying QR code immigration clearance as a first-time driver to JB

“IT’S Somewhat FAST”

Similar sentiments were expressed by the piano and team travelers in JB who had used their QR codes to clear emigration on Tuesday.

Mr. Akmal Ghazali, a Malaysian who travels to Singapore for labor about once a month, arrived on Tuesday at around 8am and left at around 6pm.

It took him “less than 30 ( seconds )” with the QR code at Singapore’s checkpoints, compared with his previous experience of handing over his passport. While he did n’t encounter any hitches, he was also mindful that it was only the first day of the program.

” It’s really hard, it’s really good”, the 32- year- old clinical representative enthused.

” I think ( the QR code ) is much easier. We’re ( going ) to have the RTS Link soon, so more Malaysians will be ( going ) to Singapore”.

Asked whether he hoped Malaysia would implement a similar system for their checkpoints, Mr Akmal cut us off excitedly:” Yes, correct, I do hope very fast ( that Malaysia adopts the QR code too )”.

However, 21- year- ancient Henry Loh, whose family drives to JB once every few months, told us it would typically get them about five minutes to clear Singapore’s checkpoints.

” Now was shorter because the QR code needs to be scanned. It was a weather. ( It was a ) significantly different ( experience ) because you do n’t see this often abroad”, said the full- time national serviceman ( NSF ) who visited JB for dinner with his parents on Tuesday. &nbsp,

” In the short term, even individuals… does take time to get used to the new program. However, once people are familiar with the system, travel will be much simpler between the two towns.
