A fire broke out at a train depot on Wednesday ( Sep 18 ), causing Circle Line services to be canceled for the second time in as many days.
A fireplace broke out in one of the energy system cabins at the Kim Chuan Depot on Wednesday night, according to travel operator SMRT, in a Twitter post posted on the evening of Wednesday. A power vacation was the result of which caused the Circle Line’s power supply to malfunction.
” This caused some carriages to shop, and lighting within the carriages were affected”, said SMRT. Additionally, it stated that professionals on-site were able to extinguish the fire.
” The Singapore Civil Defence Force was likewise activated, and we restored electricity supply by 8.10pm. All trains resumed movement, and regular service resumed at around 8: 15pm”, said SMRT, apologising for the upheaval caused to riders.
Wednesday’s 15-minute upheaval came after a power sin at 5.50pm on Tuesday disrupted train service on the Circle Line for nearly two hours, affecting peak-hour go for scores of commuters.
During the outage, eleven trains slowed down in the Circle Line caverns for 15 days, leaving travellers without air conditioning despite the ship power providing some lighting and ventilation.
Train services finally gradually resumed before SMRT announced in an update that” service fully resumed to normal” at around 7.40pm.
Previously on Wednesday, SMRT reported that team members worked into the night to finish the executive analysis and make sure the techniques were operational.
