A Vietnamese defense official announced on Friday ( Nov 15 ) that Chinese defense companies would exhibit at an arms fair in Vietnam next month, indicating a potential resumption of the two neighbors ‘ military ties.

Two decades after hosting its first-ever military good, Vietnam will host an international defense exhibition in Hanoi from December 19 to December 22. The Southeast Asian nation wants to increase local manufacturing and expand their resources of decades-old military equipment.

According to Le Ngoc Than, a representative for the defense ministry, China will be one of the almost 140 exhibitors at the expo. Which Taiwanese companies will be present, and how many?

No Chinese belt was on show at the 2022 exhibition.

Nguyen The Phuong, an analyst on Vietnam protection at the University of New South Wales in Australia, praised China’s participation in the Asian military expo as an important indicator of new security cooperation between the two nations.

The two Communist neighbors have signed tentative agreements and frequently stated in recent months that they want to strengthen ties between the security and defense industries.

In addition, their particular coast guards routinely conduct joint patrols in the Gulf of Tonkin and their respective military counterparts often make high-level visits.
