Chinese assistant minister may receive Chinese scam victims at border

TAK: On Sunday, Liu Zhongyi, the associate minister of Taiwanese people security, arrived in the Mae Sot district as locals had anticipated him escorting hundreds of Chinese call scam victims back to their home country.

The visit of Mr. Liu was made public by top Tak officials as early as Sunday morning, and his plan for the Mae Sot district was kept secret. General managers merely knew that Mr. Liu would be in Mae Sot until Monday or Tuesday.

On Sunday night, Mr. Liu reportedly made the trip from Myanmar to Bangkok’s Don Mueang airports. From Don Mueang, he took a Nok Air journey to Mae Sot. His group comprised 26 officers.

Mr. Liu’s next trip to the Mae Sot city, which borders Myanmar, is. Prior to his meeting with senior Myanmar authorities and police in charge of thwarting call-scam criminals and human smugglers in Shwe Kokko, Myawaddy, he met with them.

Last year, about 260 foreigners who had been victims of phone scam gangs were deported and flown over the border to Sangat.

Around 600 Chinese call fraud victims would remain Mr. Liu’s first victim to be repatriated from Mae Sot, according to sources.

According to solutions, Mr Liu crossed the Thai-Myanmar borders in Mae Sot on Sunday evening to attend Myawaddy. He planned to stay at a nearby resort until Sunday night when he returned to Mae Sot. It was probable that the rescued Chinese victims would take a plane to Mae Sot to immediately go back to China.

Late last month, Mr. Liu even made a visit to Mae Sot.

Chinese authorities evidently took action to stop call-scam activities in Myanmar after Wang Xing’s removal, according to reports, was lured by a similar group to Myawaddy from Thailand. He was brought back to Thailand with a shaved mind.

Numerous patients have alleged that Chinese groups ran scams in countries that border Thailand.
