China to extend anti-dumping duties on steel product from Japan, South Korea, and EU

China will expand anti-dumping duties on grain oriented flat-rolled electrical steel brought in from Japan, South Korea, and the Eu (EU), the state’s ministry of business said on Fri (Jul 22).

The responsibilities will be extended designed for five years starting from Jul 23, it said in the statement.

The anti-dumping duty rates are set from 39 per cent to 45. 7 percent for Japanese companies including JFE Metal and Nippon Steel, 37. 3 percent for Korean businesses and 46. a few per cent for EUROPEAN UNION firms.

Cina, the world’s top steel producer released an anti-dumping investigation in June last year into grain oriented flat-rolled electrical steel from Japan, South Korea and the EUROPEAN UNION following the expiry of tariffs in place for the past five years.

The tariffs were reinstated during the year-long investigation.

The particular move followed a petition by steelmakers China Baoshan Metal and Steel as well as an unit of Beijing Shougang which contended that ending the tariffs could lead to additional dumping, hurting the particular domestic steel field.

Oriented electric steel or focused silicon steel can be used in transformers and is more expensive than co2 steel.
