China slaps anti-dumping duties on plastics from US, EU, Japan, Taiwan

China: On Sunday, China announced anti-dumping jobs as high as 74.9 % on imports of POM copolymers, a type of engineering cheap, from the United States, the European Union, Japan, and Taiwan.

The Commerce Ministry’s results bring an investigation that was launched in May 2024, immediately after the US sharply increased imports of Taiwanese electric vehicles, system cards, and other goods.

According to the government, POM copolymers have a range of programs, including in auto parts, electronics, and medical products, and is largely change metals like copper and zinc.

The government announced in January that primary anti-dumping steps in the form of a deposit had been put in place starting from January 24 after initial investigations had established that dumping was occurring.

The highest anti-dumping rates, as announced on Sunday, were applied to imports from the US, with 34.5 % duties applied to European shipments.

With the exception of Asahi Kasei Corp, which received a company-specific level of 24.5 per cent, China imposed 35.5 % duties on Chinese exports.

Formosa Plastics received a 4 % tariff, while Polyplastics Taiwan received a 3.8 % duty general, while Formosa Plastics received a 3.6 % duty.

After the two sides announced on Monday that they would cut mutual taxes in a 90-day peace, a deal that state media outlet The Global Times recommended being extended on Friday, there are now heightened expectations that the US-China trade conflict is easing.

Following a conference in South Korea on Friday, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation party issued a statement informing people of “fundamental problems” facing the world trading system.
