China opens new air routes near Taiwanese islands

China’s legal aviation rules stated in a quick statement on Friday that those routes were already in use, and that it will “further optimize” airspace around Fuzhou airport starting on May 16. It did not elaborate.

There was no immediate response from Taiwan’s state, which has recently accused China of threatening aircraft safety.

Both Kinmen and Matsu fly frequently to Taiwan.

Flights to and from Xiamen and Fuzhou in Taiwan and China take a bizarre route along the middle range rather than crossing the strait.

Before, Taiwan complained about the M503 way when it claimed China opened the northern portion of it without first informing Taipei, in violation of a 2015 agreement to first examine like flight lines.
