Changi Airport’s passenger traffic in Q1 2024 surpasses pre-pandemic levels

SINGAPORE: About 16.5 million people passed through Singapore’s Changi Airport in the first third of this year, surpassing post- epidemic levels.

The aircraft handled 5.43 million, 5.35 million and 5.73 million customer actions in January, February and March both.

These figures were 96 per cent, 104.3 per cent and 101.7 per cent higher compared with the same months in 2019, &nbsp, Changi Airport Group ( CAG ) said in a statement on Thursday ( Apr 25 ). &nbsp,

The total number of customer activities in the first quarter of this year was 0.5 % higher than what was recorded in the first quarter of 2019.

Aircraft movements&nbsp, totalled 89, 400, which was 94 per cent of the activities in the first quarter of 2019.

” Transportation to and from most locations recovered to 2019 levels, or crossed them”, CAG said, adding that&nbsp, North America was the strongest actor, with prospects exceeding prior- COVID levels by 25 per share.

A common 30- time visa exemption arrangement&nbsp, between Singapore and China boosted traveling between both countries, putting China as Changi’s leading market for the first quarter.

Denpasar ( Bali), Manila, Taipei, Seoul and Shanghai were among the top 10 cities which outperformed their 2019 first quarter numbers by more than 10 per cent.
