‘I’m very hot-tempered’: Woman jailed for swinging knife at husband in front of children

SINGAPORE: A person, who described herself in court as “hot- tempered”, was jailed for three months on Thursday ( Mar 14 ) for swinging a knife at her father and threatening him in front of their young children.

Lu Ut Em, 33, was also fined S$ 2, 000 ( US$ 1, 500 ) with one day’s jail in default. She admitted to threatening her husband and two criminal intimidation matters.

The Asian woman, who appeared in court via video connection from her position of remand, originally objected repeatedly to the lawyer’s frame of the charges.

Lu maintained that she did not point the knife at her father despite being confronted with videos of her pointing it at him in front of their young children and other friends.

Instead, she just swung it at him, she claimed through an interpreter.

She also objected to a second accusation, saying she threatened to kill her husband by saying,” I want you to bleed.”

She claimed she had used a Mandarin word that meant “bleed” after watching a movie picture of the event. When asked what she meant, she said” I do n’t know”.

She finally entered a guilty plea only after the trial changed the information to indicate that she had threatened to stab her father with the word “bleed” and swung the knife at him.

THE Event

The jury heard that Lu was married to the sufferer, a 61- year- ancient Taiwanese man.

They shared a level in Teck Whye with their two children, ages three and five, as well as the boy’s mother, nephew, and sister-in-law.

On Dec 2, 2023, Lu was home with her father and other friends.

She raised her voice at her father because she was angry with him. She frequently aimed the kitchen knife at the person while shouting at him while doing the same.

The gentleman did not appear to be retaliating in judge videotape, where his wife had snarled and screeched all the way. &nbsp,

As the assault continued, the two youngsters sat in or sat around the living room, and their mother was also on hand.

At one place, when the defendant’s nephew intervened, Lu turned her anger on him, frequently gesturing toward him with a jabbing movements until he retreated to the house. &nbsp,

Lu raised the blade at one place and threatened her husband, saying “bleed” in Mandarin, the prosecutors said, reading from the speech of information.

On the film website at this point, Lu could be seen smiling to herself. &nbsp,

The target used a helicopter to defend himself during the incident and hoped to avert his wife’s knife-sharp reaction.

She was unaffected, and he returned the heli before going into the apartment to stop the situation from getting worse.

Lu was called down by the police, who then made an arrest.

Ryan Lim, the deputy public attorney, requested a three to four-month sentence and a good for Lu.

He claimed that the husband’s use of a weapon was a risky move and that there was a clear goal to be alarmed.

There were also other community members around, including two young children.

The accused’s altercation successfully drove the prey out of his own house, said Mr Lim.

There was another tragedy in February 2024, which Lu was remanded, and this one was not the only one.

JUDGE QUESTIONS HER

In prevention, Lu said:” I’m very sorry for what I have done. Please give me a prospect. Instead of going to prison, I would prefer to pay a fine. I want to take care of my kid when I return home.

District Judge Eddy Tham questioned Lu,” How will you make sure that you will never resort to such harsh actions the next time you get angry and lose your temper?”

Lu responded:” Because I’m very sizzling- tempered. That’s why I did so. Besides that, I am quite Alright”.

The prosecutor explained to Lu that conflicts and conflict are inevitable in family life and cohabiting.

He inquired if she was telling him that she would repeat her deeds because she was temperamental.

Lu replied:” I will not do it once, your honour. I try my best to manage myself”.

Judge Tham informed her that this was particularly true when the couple had younger children.

When you are armed with a knife, it’s surprising to see the younger children running around. You do n’t know how psychologically you will react when you witness such acts at home, he said.

” Yes, they were afraid”, replied Lu.

Judge Tham instructed her to consider her coming children when she becomes angry or upset so she could exercise better control and restraint.

Lu repeatedly claimed that she was furious when she did it.

” We’re not saying you never get angry”, replied the judge. We’re saying that you need to exercise self-control after being unhappy and to find other ways to control your anger.

He promised to speak with her through a courtroom advisor.

How Singapore activewear brand Kydra started with a search for better gym shorts

FOCUSING ON Ecology

Kydra often gets calls from customers to be more responsible, said Poh.

While his company wants to apply green materials, it can be difficult to find one that is up to the mark for clothing, he said.

They use recovered nylon when they can, he said.

” Sometimes, what’s available to us at the moment is either too expensive, so we ca n’t keep the prices affordable or it just does n’t meet the standard”, he said.

They pick the stuff that is very specific to what they need to do while exercising, he said.

” It has to wick sweat a certain manner, it has to experience a certain way, stretch in a particular way”, Poh said, adding that the durability of the fabric is also a factor for attention.

According to him, “what we try to do is make products that are long-lasting and green,” adding that some customers still use items they purchased seven years ago.

Their mono mailers, which are delivered in, are recyclable and make an effort to use less cheap, he claimed. &nbsp,

OUTSIDE A CROWDED SPACE

When questioned how Kydra stands out in a market filled with well-known global manufacturers, he responded that it is “quite challenging and can be quite intimidating.”

The company is focused on addressing its topic and develops products for the Eastern and Taiwanese fit, he said.

He added that the material of the clothes&nbsp, is suited for humid climate, and pride on the materials being efficient and flexible.

” We style of carved our own place in the market”, he said.

For example, the company came up with a specialty fabric for trousers that cool down quickly.

We purchased trousers from foreign companies after realizing they were extremely thick, which is how this happened. And when we put it on, it essentially feels like a baths inside”, Poh said.

He added that the company serves all demographics, and that many of its users are younger seniors.

Additionally, he receives calls for some items to be ordered in various sizes. He claimed that they received numerous calls for their gymnastics bras, which were one of their bestsellers, to appear in a smaller size, which resulted in the company offering them.

” Having more sizes across the board, being more accessible to multiple shapes and sizes, in different lengths ( is part of the plan )”, he said.

” ( When ) we reach a point where we are large enough to accommodate, we will accommodate”.

After Taylor Swift, who should Singapore woo as its next exclusive concert moneymaker?

Obviously, this is a very long picture. However, you can bet that Directioners all over the world may make it their life’s work to fly ok if Singapore succeeds in bringing back the biggest child circle of the 2010s ( with all five original members ). Any reservations from other nations about making a Singapore-exclusive One Direction reunion concert may be quickly pardoned.

The organization has been taking an indeterminate break since 2016; they have not returned. However, One Direction users have recently spoken out about a meeting with Harry Styles by saying,” Never say never,” in an interview with James Corden.

In their heyday, One Direction’s concert tours could earn upwards of US$ 200 million, their highest- grossing tour made US$ 290 million ( S$ 386 million ) from just 69 shows.

Each member is then a successful single artist in their own right, releasing well-known albums and conducting single tours. In fact, Styles ‘ Love On Tour made over US$ 610 million ( S$ 812 million ). Visualize the moolah if Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and, finally, Zayn Malik were added to the mix.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has demonstrated that Singapore is well-equipped to support concertgoers from all over the world for weeks on end. Plus, it was a financially great bargain for us. It makes sense for us to try to emulate it for other very regarded musicians. Having said that, debate may already be taking place. I suppose we’ll learn when we learn. &nbsp,

Travis Kelce details ‘lovely’ trip to Singapore with girlfriend Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce had a “lovely” day in Singapore with Taylor Swift. Last week, the small end of the Kansas City Chiefs traveled to Asia to aid his 34-year-old girlfriend’s” Eras” travel. He not only saw her perform at two “amazing” concerts, but the couple also got to enjoy some downtime.

He mentioned how” I got to witness two incredible displays of the Eras visit” while talking about his New Heights audio with his nephew Jason Kelce. The final leg of Taylor’s journey until she returns to it in a few months.

” But you have to get some beautiful Singapore meals and enjoy the views, besides that.”

And, as a” large shrub guy”, Travis Kelce was especially taken with one of his daytrips. Although he did n’t name the location during the podcast, it appears to be referring to the Gardens by the Bay. &nbsp,

He enthused:” I got to check out the nation’s largest house. How about that? It was ]really ] cool. They had the nation’s, like, biggest fountain in a house too. It was amazing, person. The manner in which the entire point was laid out.

” It was a pretty managed room and everything was, like, blooming at the same time.

” It was so special and so great. It was warm in Singapore.’ Reason it was the smack spray middle of summer over it, so it’s 100 degrees outside and then you got to go into this chilly, of, 70- degree room where they’re simply pumping AC into these plants.

” It was so beautiful to go there and stand on that point and admire all the incredible flowers.”

Therefore, Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce asked if Singapore was as modern and amazing as it appeared in tourist brochures.

He added:” The architect’s crazy. There is a “boat is on top of three arches,” or something similar, where that one resort, the Marina Bay Sands or something similar, is located, and everything is really, really lovely there.

Before departing for his home county of Chiang Mai, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra paid tribute to the Bangkok City Pillar Shrine early on Thursday night, displaying signs of increased wellbeing.

At 5.19am, Thaksin arrived at the monument on a dark Mercedes-Benz van. Pitaka Suksawat, her father, and his youngest daughter, Pheu Thai Party chief Paetongtarn Shinawatra, were with him. The pair traveled by another Mercedes-Benz van.

The former prime minister who had been sentenced to prison made his way to the temple while sporting a face mask and neck buckle. Unlike next month, the 74- yr- older did not require an arm brace or a wheelchair, showing signs of improvement since being paroled next month.

At the temple, Thaksin paid value to the state’s guardian souls, placing offerings, putting gold leaf and tying shade bands around the wall.

After 26 hours, he left without giving conversations, as investigators were barred from approaching the authorities- guarded temple.

The original business mogul was scheduled to depart for Chiang Mai on his private plane at Don Mueang air-port at 7am on Saturday, and then make his way back to Bangkok.

In the morning of February 18th, Thaksin was let go from Police General Hospital. He had stayed it for for six months, basically due to severe and existence- threatening conditions, after he&nbsp, returned to the state &nbsp, in the morning of Aug 22, 2023.

He was admitted to Police General Hospital for at least six months, but he still met the requirements for pardon because he is over 70 years old, had a serious illness, and was regarded as having served at least six weeks of his sentence.

After his return to the country on Aug 22, 2023, Thaksin was brought to the Supreme Court, which sentenced him to&nbsp, eight years&nbsp, in prison in three scenarios.

He was then taken to the Bangkok Remand Prison, but late that night- or early the next morning -&nbsp, corrections officials moved him&nbsp, to Police General Hospital, saying he needed present care products for some important conditions, including chest pain, hypertension and lower blood oxygen.

The eight- year term was reduced to one year in a&nbsp, royal pardon&nbsp, in September 2023.
