Arms exports from Singapore-based entities to Myanmar junta ‘dropped dramatically’ in past year: UN envoy

THAILAND IS Then A WORLD-CLASS RESOURCE

Mr. Andrews noted in his most recent statement that Thailand has now become the regime’s main supplier of goods purchased through the world bank system.

Arms and related supplies transferred from Thailand-registered businesses increased from over US$ 60 million in the governmental year of 2022 to over US$ 120 million the following month.

The Thai authorities, according to Mr. Andrews, does not have a clear public policy place opposing the move of arms to Myanmar, unlike Singapore.

According to the review, the junta’s buying originally made from Singapore- based companies, including sections for Mi- 17 and Mi- 35 helicopters, are now being sourced from Thailand. According to the report, the junta uses these helicopters to move soldiers and carry out airstrikes on human targets.

Thai businesses, including Siam Commercial Bank, have been important in this change, said Mr Andrews.

In the 2022 fiscal year, the country’s oldest professional banks facilitated more than US$ 5 million in transactions involving Myanmar’s military purchasing. In 2023, this soared to more than US$ 100 million.

Mr. Andrews expressed wish that Thailand will conduct an investigation into and stop the flow of arms into Myanmar in a similar way to Singapore’s.

He emphasized that he found no proof of the governments ‘ presence or recognition of the deals in both countries ‘ cases.

He cited the Singapore government’s launch of an investigation that led to this major drop when we released the statement indicating the entities from Singapore that were involved in this trade next year.

We’re hoping Thailand did follow suit, and we’ll see a similar pattern from Thailand this year from Singapore.

3 women charged for organising procession to Istana in support of Palestinian cause

Three women were detained in court on Thursday ( Jun 27 ) for allegedly organizing a group of about 70 people who allegedly delivered letters to the Istana in support of the Palestinian cause. &nbsp,

The three are Annamalai Kokila Parvathi, 35, Siti Amirah Mohamed Asrori, 29, and Mossamad Sobikun Nahar, 25.

All were accused under the Public Order Act of organizing a gathering or march without a force on February 2 along the Istana, a prohibited region, along the boundary. &nbsp,

Annamalai, a known legal activist, is said to have abetted the reported crime.

Jolovan Wham, a well-known advocate, and all three of them showed up in court and were accompanied by a group of more than 10 persons. &nbsp,

The women reportedly staged a parade in front of the Singapore Police Force to demonstrate their support for the Arab cause, including asking for attendees to sign up online.

Around 2 p.m., about 70 persons had gathered along Orchard Road outside a store on February 2 and made their way to the Istana. In support of the Arab cause in the midst of the Israel-Hamas conflict, they carried tents with fruit images. &nbsp,

The color of the fruit is the same as that on the Arab flag, and the fruit has come to represent Arab solidarity.

Participants in the Words for Palestine function reportedly walked from Plaza Singapura to the Istana to hand out words to then-Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, according to social media posts. &nbsp,

The authorities added that Annamalai had recently received a 24 month contingent warning on November 30, 2021 and a harsh warning on December 5, 2017, for her participation in various common assemblies without a permit. &nbsp,

Siti Amirah is under investigation for crimes in a separate event, the authorities said without elaborating.

Authorities are still looking into possible contributors to the same incident. &nbsp,

The police warned the public to refrain from engaging in activities that would endanger the cultural unity, public order, and serenity that Singaporeans have worked hard to achieve. &nbsp,

We recognize that some people have strong opinions about the Israel-Hamas conflict, but they should n’t defy the law to express their opinions or follow the protestors in other nations, they said.

They could otherwise take part in the numerous boards, dialogues, and donation drives that have been properly organized on the subject.

If convicted, each faces a jail term of not more than six months, or a fine of up to S$ 10, 000 ( US$ 7, 364 ). &nbsp,

Cate Campbell: Australia’s ‘queen of the pool’ retires

After failing to qualify for the 2014 Summer Olympics in Paris, one of Australia’s most well-known athletes has announced her pension from the game.

A year after resigning from the Australian Olympic Studies in Brisbane, Cate Campbell announced in a social media post that it was “time to actually say goodbye to the vision I have had since I was 9 years older.”

When she fell short of qualifying for the 100m and 50m free activities, Campbell missed out on what would have been her second Games group.

She is one of the most recognizable faces in American activity, having won eight Olympic awards, broken seven world documents, and is a veteran of four more.

” While there are many conflicting thoughts, particularly because it did not end exactly how I had hoped, I am still able to look back without regret”, she said.

” I gave the attainment of a 5th Olympics all I had, and so, even in failing, there is a small, unforgettable seed of pride”.

The 32- yr- older- who initially made waves as a teenager competing at the Beijing Games- has won 37 key international medals, 23 of them gold.

Most of Campbell’s awards have been won in team activities, including gold awards for the 4x100m completely switch at the last three Games, all in world records-setting days. He is regarded as one of the greatest switch athletes of all time.

She has also received praise for serving as a role model and coach for her contemporaries, including her younger girl Bronte, who she has competed alongside in several international events.

The couple has worked together since they were young and have made it famous to battle viral exhaustion after coming under gastric fever to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

The younger Campbell wrote in a gift to her girl,” When we were 7 and 9 years old, we sat in the back of the car planning what we’d would.”

” Little did we think that we’d come to three Games, two Commonwealth Games and three World Championships up. Truth occasionally performs even better than what was initially anticipated.

Her teammates immediately entered her street and embraced her in the waters when she finished her last swim in front of a sold-out masses in Brisbane next week.

” This is the close, and it’s a great way to exit the pool”, she said through tears.

Tributes have remained abounding from some of the nation’s most recognizable athletes and effective wearing bodies.

The reigning free world champion Mollie O’Callaghan said,” Cate has really set this up for a lot of us women.

” She set the standards, and she’s one of the most encouraging people, in and out of the waters”.
