According to Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong, the Ministry of Justice is proposing to change the laws requiring offenders in social situations to be kept in their homes while their trial is pending.

According to Pol Col Tawee, the government is currently reviewing Area 89/1 of a governmental regulation that would give judges the option to sentence suspects in social cases.

He said that offenders in such cases may be detained in their homes if the proposed article were to be approved. The government believes that defendants should be held innocent until proven guilty.

There are now 25 cases involving Part 112 of the Criminal Code, also known as the lese- majoreste law, in which suspects are awaiting test or interesting convictions and have been denied bail.

A judgment under Part 112 carries a sentence of between 3 and 15 years. Judges often cite the intensity of the crime, based on the words, as the reason for denying loan.

The justice secretary previously stated that the demand for more technological checking was also intended to combat persistent overcrowding in the nation’s prisons.

Thailand’s prison can provide 180, 000 inmates, but there are already 280, 000 people detained in Thai jails — 50, 000 of whom are awaiting test.

After being questioned by Move Forward Party MP Sasinan Thamnithinan about progress being made in the formal investigation into the death of political advocate Netiporn Saneysangkhom, also known as Boong Thalu Wang, who was on a hunger strike, Pol Col Tawee made the announcement on Thursday.

According to Ms Sasinan, Netiporn’s suicide showed that the treatment of sick prisoners by the Department of Corrections was poor.

” How will the office take role? What was the effect of the research? Will there be any changes made to the government to strengthen detainee treatment? she asked in the House.

Pol Col Tawee disputed Ms Sasinan’s state of poor treatment, saying the district’s treatment of prisoners was in line with international norms.

In 2023, he said, 750 captives died in confinement, but that was lower than the average of about 1, 000 reported in past years.

Netiporn’s death sparked similarities with the cure former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra received before his release on parole, not to mention the controversy surrounding the treatment of mentally ill detainees.

Her demise and the starvation hit staged by two different high- profile activists, Tantawan” Tawan” Tuatulanon and Natthanon” Frank” Chaimahabud, have likewise reignited calls for immediate reform of the justice system.

In connection with an event at a royal parade in February, Ms. Tantawan and Mr. Natthanon are facing rebellion charges. Before being released on bail in later May, they spent 105 days in jail.

Despite attempts to revive her at Thammasat University Hospital, Netiporn was declared deceased on May 14. She had a heart attack shortly after 6am that morning, so she was taken to the Central Correctional Hospital for treatment.

Following last year’s assault on anti-government protesters, Netiporn launched a hunger strike to protest the arrest and prosecution of political activists.

While apparently starting to accept food and beverages once more in April, her situation remained deteriorating as a result of her hunger strike having worsened her already severe medical conditions, including anaemia and enlarged legs.

But, prison officials claimed Netiporn continued to object to pills and medical treatments prescribed by doctors.

Terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah’s top leaders say it is dissolved. How should its ex-members, the Indonesian authorities move forward?

Avoid OF SPLINTER GROUPS

Even if JI is no longer active, the government may still be on the lookout for fragment teams acting on their own accord, according to authorities.

” These splinters carry out (terror ) acts on their own. Dr. Noor Huda noted that the Bali attack was carried out without the consent of popular JI members.

He said that these splinters organizations that reject state integration should be closely monitored. According to his conversations with JI individuals, Dr. Noor Huda claimed that Indonesia has thousands of members. &nbsp,

” There will surely get resistance by the shrapnel. This dissolution is just the beginning, do n’t be too hasty to close the story of JI”, he said.

Agreeing, Mr. Adhe Bhakti, a violence observer from the PAKAR, questioned whether the people of the JI officials did take their decisions into account.

” The possibility of the lower- struck people &nbsp, to proceed on their own, against the choice of the JI best brass, is quite high”, Mr Adhe said.

” Although in the short term we wo n’t encounter threats from JI, in the long term, JI still has the potential to cause security disturbances”.

Mr Harits, but, believes the impact of those who are dissatisfied with the older members ‘ selection is limited, as will be their weight.

” Those who announced the JI’s dissolution are the top leaders, and the loyalty ( they command ) is still quite strong. There could be one or two individuals who oppose these leaders ‘ selection, but they will not have electricity and influence”, he said.

Past JI part and son of Abu Bakar Abdul Rahim Bashir, Mr. Bashir, hopes the dissolution will sway JI sympathisers and persuade them to abandon extremist beliefs. &nbsp,

” This is a good moment to ( wake up ) those ( JI sympathisers ) who are moving underground”, Mr Abdul Rahim told CNA.

He hoped that since the organization’s breakdown, officials may no longer detain those suspected of having JI connections. He claimed that this had been troubling because he had argued that there was no evidence that some of them had carried out terrorist functions.

Since JI no longer exists or has been disbanded, Abdul Rahim, who has been linked to Al Qaeda since 2011, said he “hopefully” there wo n’t be any more arbitrary arrests after this because, according to the UN Security Council, “JI no longer exists or has been disbanded.” &nbsp,

Mr Harits shared the same attitude. This is because, according to him, the judge’s classification of JI as a prohibited organization will no longer be applicable.

“JI has been the symbol of evil in Indonesia so far,” said JI. However, just like the Islamic State ( IS), JI, and other forms of terrorism have all faded away. Indonesia may provide a new time in the battle of terror”, he said.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the plan to construct the first expansion for the Red Line energy rail system from Rangsit to Thammasat University has been approved for submission to the government.

According to Deputy Transport Minister Surapong Piyachote, the 8.8-kilometer road from Pathum Thani’s Khlong Luang district to the Thammasat Rangsit school is one of three prepared extensions. Suriya Jungrangreangkit, the chancellor of transportation, said he has approved the project and forwarded it to the government secretariat.

According to Mr. Surapong, the plans must also be reviewed by the Ministry of Finance, Budget Bureau, and National Economic and Social Development Council before it can be approved by the government.

The Rangsit- Thammasat improvement may include four channels: Khlong Neung, Bangkok University, Chiang Rak and Thammasat Rangsit Campus. The construction project cost is estimated to be$ 6.47 billion, with bids scheduled for this year. He predicted that it will get 35 months to build, and it is scheduled to open in 2028.

Ideas for the other two additions, both from Taling Chan place, are expected to get forwarded to the government never afterwards than August, he said.

According to a supply at the State Railway of Thailand ( SRT), the 14 km Taling Chan- Salaya course may have six channels and cost 10.67 billion baht. The route with three stations, a length of 5.7 km, called Taling Chan- Siriraj Hospital, did cost 4.61 billion ringgit.

The two development contracts are expected to close after this time, while construction is scheduled to start the following year and be finished by 2028.

The SRT is nonetheless deciding which teach technology to use for the extensions, as procurement of fresh trains may cooperate with the government’s clean and lower- cost public transport policies, said the source.

By 2029, all public transportation services, including taxis and buses, must be electric under the natural scheme.

The SRT’s diesel locomotives will be replaced by cross types that can run on energy within a 200-kilometer circle of Bangkok, according to the source, before switching to fuel when leaving this region.

The National Health Security Office ( NHSO ) has approved a 1042 baht increase in annual funding for dependent care from 6, 000 to 4, 000 baht.

About 320, 000 people are registered in the administration’s lengthy- term care program yearly, according to deputy government spokesman Karom Polpornklang.

But, there are others, such as people with dementia or in preventative care, who also depend on support from the area.

These people need as much care as those with low Activities of Daily Living ( ADL ) scores, according to Mr. Karom. The ADL is a widely accepted indicator that assesses a person’s capacity for independence and practical limitations when carrying out specific treatment tasks.

He said the NHSO committee has thus consented to expand the scope of the contingent treatment program to include people with middle- and end-stage memory.

According to Mr. Karom, the number of children who have been registered will increase to 600,000.

However, the increase in the monthly budget for centered care from 6, 000 to 10, 442 baht per person may give local operational organisations more funds to take care of people, said Mr Karom.

It is also to enhance people’s quality of life, especially the elderly, and assist the state deal with the needs of an aged community, he added.

Sub ordered by Thailand ‘offered to Indonesia’

According to China, Jakarta apparently has the option of having a German website.

China reportedly offers to market Indonesia a half-built submarine that was actually ordered by Thailand, and claims that if Jakarta wants that engine, it will include a German-made engine.

The announcement was reported this week by Janes, an authentic expert in defense, national security and transportation issues.

Thailand claims that the troubled offer to buy the Chinese underwater is back on track, despite the development’s growth. In May, Defense Minister Sutin Klungsang predicted that negotiations may take another one or two times to come to an end.

On June 28, the Ministry of Defense in Jakarta, according to a report from the China State Shipbuilding Corporation ( CSSC ) officials, visited their website.

Even though the vehicle has already passed the construction stage, the Taiwanese officials presented a lecture on how the S26T diesel-electric submarine could be modified to fit the Indonesian navy’s needs.

The CSSC leaders assured the government that the present to Indonesia would not be subject to the same kinds of trade regulations as the Royal Thai Navy.

Thailand’s initial agreement in May 2017 stated that the website belonged to German manufacturers. The idea changed after Germany turned down the offer to buy the website to China because it is a military/defence object and subject to an embargo from the European Union.

Beijing has been trying to persuade Thailand to switch out a Chinese-built engine for the German website without incurring a fine for lease violation.

At the appointment in Jakarta, the Taiwanese group said Indonesia could include an website from a supplier of its selection, including Germany- based MTU, into the vessel, Janes reported.

A modification deal that would allow the S26T to build and establish Chinese-made YJ-18 torpedo tube-launched anti-ship cruise missiles is also included in the present to Indonesia.

China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co ( CSOC ) was initially contracted in 2017 to build the submarine in accordance with a government-to-government agreement with Thailand.

Building officially was only half finished when it was delayed by the Covid- 19 pandemic, and was then put on hold because of the engine problem.

Chinese electric car makers hit with new European Union tariffs

By João da SilvaBusiness reporter

As Brussels takes steps to protect the bloc’s engine industry, tariffs have been increased by the European Union on Chinese energy vehicles.

The new tariffs, which are applicable to individual manufacturers, go from 17.4 % to 37.6 %, which is in addition to the 10 % duty that was already in place for all electric cars imported from China.

This could cause EV prices to rise across the EU, making them less inexpensive for Western consumers.

The shift is also a big blow for Beijing, which is already in a business war with Washington. China’s Vehicle industry is relying on high-tech products to revive its ailing economy because the EU is the largest international market for its EV sector.

According to EU officials, “unfair subsidization” led to this increase in imports, which made it possible to sell China-made electric vehicles at much lower prices than those produced in the alliance.

Beijing is subsidizing excessive production to flood eastern markets with cheap imports, China has refuted this claim repeatedly made by the US and the EU.

The new claims will become effective on Friday, but they are only preliminary as the exploration into Chinese express support for EV manufacturers drags on.

So who are the possible winners and losers in this industry dispute?

Not only Chinese brands are impacted by the shift. European automakers that are produced in China have also been subject to scrutiny by Brussels.

Brussels claims that by imposing taxes, it is attempting to right what it perceives as a twisted industry. The EU’s choice may seem unimpressive in comparison to the current US decision to increase its overall tariffs to 100 %, but it has potential to have a much bigger impact. Foreign electric vehicles are more prevalent in the EU than they are on American roads.

According to figures from the influentive Brussels-based green group Transport and Environment ( T&amp, E), the number of EVs sold by Chinese brands across the EU increased from just 0.4 % of the total EV market in 2019 to almost 8 % last year.

Patryk Krupcala, an engineer from Poland, who expects to taking delivery of a brand new China- made MG4 in two months told the BBC:” I have chosen an MG4 because it is quite low. It has rear-wheel drive like my past car, the BMW E46, and is a truly quick car.

T&E projects firms like BYD and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), the Chinese owner of the formerly British brand MG, could reach a market share of 20% by 2027.

However, not all Chinese-made electric vehicles will suffer the same fate as a result of the fresh taxes.

Winners and losers

They were based on estimates of how much position aid each company received, while those who cooperated with the investigation saw the tasks they were subject to reduced. The German Commission has established specific tasks for three Chinese EV models based on these criteria: SAIC, BYD, and Geely.

SAIC has been hit with the highest new tariff of 37.6%. State-owned SAIC is the Chinese partner of Volkswagen and General Motors. It also owns MG, which produces one of the top-selling EVs in Europe, the MG4.

” The price for not cooperating is a serious blow to SAIC, which gets 15.4 % of its global revenues from EV revenue in Europe”, says Rhodium Group, an independent research company.

For Mr Krupcala, who bought his MG4 before the tariffs hit, the EU’s move does not matter much:” I do n’t really care about the tariffs. I have a good car with a seven- time warranty”.

For China’s largest Vehicle manufacturer, BYD, it is a different story, as it faces an extra work of 17.4 % on the cars it boats from China to the EU.

That is the lowest improve, and it will “give the manufacturer an advantage in the Western market,” according to research from Dutch bank ING.

Cost was one of the deciding factors when Lus Filipe Costa, a Portuguese professional in the healthcare sector, said when he made his choice for his new car.

He continued, however, that even if the new levies had already been in position, he would still have chosen BYD because “other companies would also be affected.”

Geely, which owns Sweden’s Volvo, will see an extra price of 19.9 %.

According to Spanish lender BBVA, the firm will” still export to the EU effectively” but “its gains will be considerably reduced”.

Different businesses will also have to spend more to import energy cars into the EU, including European car manufacturers that have factories in China or through joint ventures.

Those deemed to have cooperated with the probe will face an extra duty of 20.8%, while those EU investigators see as non-cooperative will pay the higher tariff of 37.6%.

Tesla, the largest producer of electric cars from China to Europe, has requested an independently calculated rate, which EU officials have stated may be determined at the conclusion of the analysis.

The company has posted a warning on some of its European sites warning that the new tariffs could cause costs for its Shanghai-made Model 3.

Next month, business Lars Koopmann, who lives in the motor industry superpower that is Germany, bought a China- made Tesla Model Y.

Mr Koopmann says he especially enjoyed the car’s higher- technology features, such as the big touch screen.

According to Mr. Koopmann,” Price was even a large element that set it apart from superior German brands.”

” If the taxes had been in place, they would have always affected my decision”.

Localising generation

Although some China-based manufacturers will be in better shape than others, it is obvious from the Western Commission’s programs that all of them will be paying higher transport costs.

The hardest hit, according to Rhodium, may be SAIC companies like MG as well as joint initiatives between foreign and Chinese companies in China, which frequently have lower profit margins on the vehicles they sell to Europe.

” The biggest beneficiaries of the jobs are European-based producers with minimal exposure to China, such as Renault,” according to the statement.

In other words, the responsibilities are likely to accomplish what the Union hopes they will reduce the number of imported Chinese electric vehicles, thereby reducing the burden on local manufacturers.

Another benefit of the move is that some large Chinese electric vehicle companies intend to establish production in the EU, which may protect them from the new responsibilities.

Production is anticipated to start at BYD’s second Continental shop by the end of the year in Hungary.

Chinese automaker Chery just signed a joint venture agreement with a Spanish company that will see the two companies producing Batteries and other car types in Barcelona.

Additionally, SAIC is looking to find a location in Europe for its first shop.

According to Bill Russo from Shanghai-based consulting team Automobility,” It’s a well architected strategy to promote businesses to move their investments to the EU, rather than rely on exporting from China.”

The fact that some businesses are taxed more heavily than others indicates that they will increase or decrease the fine based on the level of investment the company makes in the EU.

Early on, the Chinese government placed a bet on EVs.

According to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, between 2009 and 2023 more than$ 230bn ( £181bn ) of state support was pumped into the industry.

In consequence, its EV sector has grown to be the most successful worldwide.

According to the International Energy Agency, China sold more than 60 % of all new electric vehicles globally last year.

While the vast majority of EVs produced in China are sold domestically, overseas markets, and particularly Europe, have become increasingly important.

” Exports are the profitable segment”, said Rhodium’s senior analyst, Gregor Sebastian.

Because these exports help China recover from its domestic price war, the EU tariffs will hurt the country’s electric vehicle industry.

In the wake of the pandemic and an ongoing property crisis, the second-largest economy in the world is having trouble adjusting to the effects of the pandemic.

China is trying to “export its way out” of the slump, according to Alicia Garcia- Herrero, chief economist for the Asia Pacific region at investment bank Natixis.

And Beijing is placing yet another significant bet on electric vehicles by designating the sector as one of its” New Three” growth drivers, a government strategy for revitalizing the economy that also depends on battery exports and renewable energy.

However, it appears that China’s most recent move could increase trade tensions with some of its largest trading partners as major markets like the US, the EU, and others start imposing tariffs and other barriers.

Hathras crush: Indian preacher denies blame for deaths, lawyer tells BBC

The priest who led a crowded meditation meeting in India on Tuesday, at which more than 120 people died, has denied responsibility and pledged to cooperate with the police investigation.

Bhole Baba, the self-styled guru, was charged with a” criminal conspiracy hatched against” his client by a lawyer who spoke to the BBC and claimed the lover took place because of” some anti-social parts.”

Bhole Baba- whose true name is Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari- will totally co- work with the investigation, his lawyer AP Singh said.

Nearly all of the victims were children and women who were observing the Hindu religious holiday satsang in the Hathras city.

It has sparked anger in India and concerns about a lack of safety measures.

Mr. Singh also refuted accounts that security guards at the event reportedly caused a wave of fear by escorting away attendees seeking Bhole Baba’s gift.

” Absolutely false allegation”, Mr Singh told the BBC. ” Security employees often provide support to the supporters”.

One of the worst breaks to occur in India in centuries is this.

Individuals driving the wounded to hospitals in pick-up cars, tuk tuks, and even on motorcycles have been seen in disturbing photographs from the aftermath of the disaster.

What happened?

The lover took place in Pulrai town, where Bhole Baba was holding a religious meeting.

An original police statement said that officers had given permission for 80, 000 people to gather, but some 250, 000 people turned up to the occasion.

According to the report, the conflict started when the priest fled. Witnesses reported that as hundreds of people rushed toward the priest as he left the place, they lost their balance and began to fall on top of one another.

Survivor reports that a number of those squatting and sitting on the ground got crushed as persons ran after his car.

Ashish Yadav, one of the first people to arrive on the scene, claimed that hundreds of women were fleeing Bhole Baba’s vehicles as he was leaving.

Some people” crossed the bridge” to see his vehicle better. In the fight, many people fell in the discharge located to the bridge. Folks started falling on top of each other”, Mr Yadav said.

Some people attempted to cross the road to a piece of mud-soaked fields, but the organizers violently stopped them and caused them to fall.

Bhole Baba was previously known as Suraj Pal, but he apparently renamed himself Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari.

The preacher was a police officer, according to a senior police officer in Uttar Pradesh, but his employment was terminated after a legal case was brought against him.

He was reinstated in the army after a judge ordered him to leave his position in 2002, according to the senior agent.

In Hathras and the surrounding areas, the priest has gathered hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts.

Bhole Baba is known to have an ashram in Mainpuri, about 100km ( 62 miles ) from Pulrai village.

His attorney informed the BBC that his customer is currently residing at his monastery. In the first officers issue, the preacher has not been identified.
