- Signifies Carsome’s efforts to grow a high-skilled workforce
- Bolster regional presence through strategic hires, talent development
Carsome announced the expansion of its regional headquarters in Malaysia.
In a statement, the car e-commerce platform said the expansion signifies the company’s efforts to grow a high-skilled workforce to solve customers’ pain points in the car ownership journey.
It said the expanded headquarters occupies a total of 41,860 square feet of space, spread across four stories at KYM Tower in Mutiara Damansara to house over 560 employees.
Carsome’s co-founder and Carsome Academy chief executive officer (CEO) Teoh Jiun Ee said the expansion underlined Carsome’s vision to mobilise Malaysia as a central talent hub for the region.
“To do that, we have amplified efforts to recognise local talents that will contribute towards building a stronger team and nurture skillsets to better serve the industry and help solve customers’ pain points.
“The expansion exemplifies another one of our corporate milestones since the establishment of Carsome in 2015 as we believe a larger workspace for our Carsomers will elevate their working experience and at the same time meet the needs of our team for a larger and more inspirational workspace,” said Teoh.
Teoh said through its growing workforce, Carsome will endeavor to channel more efforts into talent development in Malaysia to bolster our regional presence through strategic hires, upskills, and development of local talents.
The opening of Carsome’s newly expanded headquarters was officiated by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) CEO, Mahadhir Aziz.
He said Carsome is indeed Malaysia’s very own pride and joy – an innovative and inventive company that is not only an indicator of Malaysia’s robust and thriving digital ecosystem, but also evidence of the country’s strength as the digital hub of the region.
“Carsome’s expansion marks the growth of their local and regional talent pool as well as their commitment towards developing future talents. Their dedication towards inculcating digital talents is aligned to the goals of Malaysia Digital, which seeks to accelerate the adoption of digital among the Rakyat,” said Mahadhir.
Carsome said it was also awarded the Unicorn Status Award by the prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and MDEC recently for being one of the most successful startups in Malaysia.
The company claimed to be one of the few local tech startups with a regional headquarters presence in Malaysia, and one that continues to establish Malaysia as a central talent hub in the region.
In its efforts to upskill the workforce, it has provided over 29 training sessions and courses amounting to 4,400 minutes to 258 employees in customer service, operations, business development, and sales teams within Carsome Group, it said.
