The Department associated with Disease Control (DDC) said that a 6-year-old boy who passed away from Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Kids (MIS-C) was infected with Covid-19.
Dr Opas Karnkawinpong, DDC director-general, told a push conference on Thursday that the dead kid had not been vaccinated.
“He had been hospitalised at a private medical centre just before being sent to Pathum Thani Hospital, when he sank into listlessness and had cold hands and feet upon July 19, inch Dr Opas stated.
He or she said the child developed an inflammatory condition in his body, which eventually resulted in his death. MIS-C is among the conditions connected with Covid-19.
“The variant distributing in Thailand at the moment is mainly the Omicron subvariant BA. 5 which is highly transmittable, especially among children who have close connection with their schoolmates, ” said Dr Opas. “Most of the infected children have gentle symptoms and can get over the virus by themselves, inch he said. Just a few children develop MIS-C, Dr Opas said. Children diagnosed with the problem are advised to seek instant medical care, he stated.
“We can prevent MIS-C among children simply by vaccination. The inflammatory condition is rare and vaccinated kids will have less contact with it, ” Dr Opas added.
The department suggested that moms and dads with children more than 5 years old ask them to vaccinated against Covid-19 to prevent them dealing with any risks from underlying conditions.
In late April, a Facebook Page called @Infectious1234 published about the inflammatory situation among children who had been infected with yet have recovered from Covid-19. It stated children can develop MIS-C two to six weeks after recovering from Covid-19, with more than two internal organs inflamed.
The cause of MIS-C continues to be unknown but many children with the condition also had Covid-19.
