Badminton: Anthony Ginting aims to end Indonesia’s 20-year wait for Olympics men’s singles gold 

SINGAPORE: The year was 2004, and a country rejoiced as its volleyball star Taufik Hidayat triumphed at the Athens Olympics.

There have been silver medals in the men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed double since, but no other Indonesian has managed to recreate Hidayat’s miracle.

Enter Anthony Ginting.

One of badminton’s most charming people has even proven himself a fierce competition.

Ginting, who is currently ranked sixth in the world, made his Olympic debut three years ago in Tokyo, where he won bronze in the female’s singles.

Like Hidayat, 27- year- ancient Ginting hails from the same basketball team in Bandung. &nbsp,

And he’s aiming to adopt in the superstar’s feet once, at the approaching Paris Olympics from July to August.

He stated to CNA on May 27 that the goal is “gold” and that a speaker would be helpful. ” Anything bigger than the last Olympics”.

Ginting would prefer not to ponder the importance of his Olympic success in Paris, despite being objective in his goals.

” Giving the victory to my family is extra motivation, but I do n’t want to think about ( that )”, he explained, adding that he would “rather focus on moving forward, preparing well and just focusing on tournaments”.

One of these games is the Singapore Open this week, where he is the defending champion and aims to get the men’s singles name for the second time in a row. &nbsp,
