However, the labor secretary is unable to say when the national income committee does approve the new rate.
Despite the national income committee’s delay in approving it, Labour Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has reaffirmed that the 400-baht normal minimum wage must start in place as planned on October 1.
Sia Champhathong, an MP with the criticism People’s Party, asked the secretary on Thursday in the House whether the depositions of two new discussions of the council were the president’s way to avoid addressing the issue,
Mr. Phiphat claimed that his position as left secretary was out of his power. The bilateral committee consists of 15 users from employers, individual groups and the state and is separate.  ,
” I can either join the meeting nor sanction its development”, Mr Phiphat said.
He claimed that the companies ‘ group’s five members may have likely voted against the pay raise if the meeting on Sept. 20 had been held.
Employers have generally opposed the idea of a 400-baht minimum pay, and even more so the plan to have the price the same across the country.
The current maximum income is between 330 and 370 ringgit depending on the state.
The minister claimed that many organizations are attempting to persuade Thailand’s Bangkok to lower interest rates to encourage employers to manage their costs, enabling them to increase their pay.
Businesses or companies with at least 200 employees are expected to pay the new normal level. According to Mr. Phiphat, studies have shown that the change will result in companies receiving an average 73 ringgit higher per employee per day.
The impact may be great, he said.
According to Mr. Phiphat’s assertion that his department would work on raising minimum wages for smaller employers in the future in response to Mr. Sia’s concerns that small and medium businesses were excluded from the policy.  ,
Additionally, Mr. Phiphat reaffirmed that, as promised during the election campaign in 2023, the state was still committed to a plan to increase the income to 600 rmb by 2027.
Before announcing various programs and timelines, he said, it is important to first meet the 400-baht least by October.
” But, the wage increase may be in line with the country’s recent economic status rather than prioritising a predetermined timeline”, he said, adding it is possible the increase may never reach the promised 600-baht purpose.
Alternatively,” the government is focusing on finding alternatives for green progress in terms of raising wages and ensuring financial security for staff,” he said.
