New Zealanders in the flood-hit nation are bracing for further heavy rains recently with more severe climate alerts.
At least four people have died and a condition of emergency purchase continues in Auckland, which on Friday experienced its worst downpour on report.
About 350 people needed emergency accommodation, New Zealand’s excellent minister Chris Hipkins said.
He added there had been substantial damage across Auckland and the north tropical isle.
The newly designated PM also pointed out climate change’s part in the extreme weather conditions event.
“It’s a 1-in-100-year weather event, and we seem to be getting a lot of them at the moment. I think people can easily see that there’s a message for the reason that… Climate change is certainly real, it’s around, ” Mr Hipkins said on Mon.
He told national broadcaster TVNZ: “We are going to have to deal with really these extreme weather conditions events in the future.
“We need to be prepared for that. And we have to do everything we can in order to combat the challenge associated with climate change, inch he added.
Mr Hipkins also acknowledged criticism from local people that communications within the floods had been “too few and significantly between”.
Using the unprecedented rainfall Auckland has seen given that Friday, even “ordinary” torrential rain in the days ahead might lead to more flooding plus damage than it might usually, the city’s mayor said in a tweet on Monday.

Auckland Airport, that was temporarily closed because of damage from large flooding, has since reopened.
New Zealand media have recognized two individuals who died in the floods. Daniel Newth, a 25-year-old arborist, died whilst kayaking near his North Shore house, and Daniel Indicate Miller, 34, has been found dead within a culvert in the Auckland suburb Wairu Valley.
