America’s top diplomat visiting Asia to stress US commitment to the region amid uncertainty over US election

Asked what Mr. Blinken’s resignation from Mr. Biden’s position will be to friends and whether it may lead to policy changes, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Kritenbrink said the information would be that America is “all-in on the Indo-Pacific”

” We do try to reassure allies and partners that there are certain fundamentals, I think, about America’s engagement that are not going to change, that have been consistent”, he told reporters on Monday ( Jul 22 ).

These include US$ 2 trillion in deal between the United States and the Indo-Pacific place yearly, and almost a trillion dollars of local expense, he noted.

On Capitol Hill,” Our allies and partners and our approach to the region have strong bipartisan support.”

While he was in office from 2017 to 2021, Mr. Trump, who has been winning the elections ahead of the Nov. 5 vote, launched a business war against China. If he is elected president again, he has suggested that he would impose tariffs of 60 % or higher on all Chinese goods.

He claimed Taiwan should give the US for defending it from China, which views Taiwan as a self-governing island that belongs to its own nation-state and is subject to land unification. The former president’s supporters have assured Japan and South Korea that he will continue to work with them to combat China and North Korea.

POSSIBLE METHODS WITH WANG YI

Mr Blinken’s first halt is expected to remain Vietnam to attend the funeral of Nguyen Phu Trong, who was general secretary of Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party and the country’s most effective politician.

Trong’s “bamboo diplomacy” helped Vietnam maintain its rapid economic growth for more than a decade, and it has since crossed a great line in strengthening relations with both China and the US. He was 80 years old when he passed away from old age and illness last Friday ( Jul 19 ).

Mr. Blinken will be present at ASEAN-related discussions in Laos on Friday and Saturday, where Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi are also scheduled to attend. &nbsp,

A North Korean national would also probably be in attendance, Mr Kritenbrink said.

Leaders are expected to talk about the issue in Myanmar while they are there, after the military seized energy three years ago. According to Mr. Kritenbrink, the US anticipates that Myanmar will be represented by a non-political standard as it has been in previous conferences since the revolution.

Mr. Kritenbrink may only respond that” we do assume that he’ll have an opportunity to participate with Wang Yi” when asked if Mr. Blinken would meet with Mr. Wang. &nbsp,
