A police lieutenant from the Nonthaburi province’s Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB ) has been detained on suspicion of assembling air rifles and selling them online.

The official, identified just as Pol Lt Punnatad, 35, was arrested at his house in tambon Bang Rak Noi of Muang city, said Pol Lt Gen Worawat Watnakornbancha, the CCIB director.

Police found and seized three higher- stress air rifles, 200 square pellets, 150 scopes, 100 air rifle stocks and different components, including air pumps and hand grips, he said.

The arrest by a CCIB group was portion of a plan to break down on illegal online businesses, according to Pol Lt Gen Worawat. He claimed the believe had a Line profile and a YouTube channel where he could show him how to build air rifles.

The suspect, according to Pol Lt. Gen. Worawat, had been selling air rifle for about 300,000 baht per month for three years at a price of 15, 000 ringgit each.

Farmers and gun enthusiasts who purchased the air rifle to protect their property from wild animals were among his customers, he claimed.

According to Pol Lt. Gen. Worawat, the suspect has been accused of unlawfully assembling, importing, possessing, and trading weapons and ammunition without authorization as well as immoral possession of such weapons and ammunition.
