Actor Chen Xi and his Japanese fiancee met on a language-exchange app

When 8days reached out to Chen Xi, he revealed that his wife Mimi is Asian, plays in IT, and is” somewhat younger” than him. He added that Chen Xi’s cousin’s day was just two weeks before the couple got engaged to him.

” I already had the circle in my pocket and was wondering when would be a great time ( to pop the question )”, he recalled.

When they were in a mansion built in the 17th century and with a monastery in Northern England, he lastly found the ideal time.

” It was raining outside and I was like: ‘ Hey this is a pretty good- looking religion, light is great’ so I seized the opportunity and went for it”, he said. &nbsp,

” In Singapore, individuals are like, I must approach this and that, I need kites and products. But I’m here ( in London ) and I have literally no connections, so I just memorised my proposal in Japanese. It was tough”, he laughed. &nbsp,

That said, Chen Xi did inform his family, who are in Singapore, about the proposal, but told them he had” no idea” when and how it was going to happen. &nbsp,

Chen Xi currently does n’t have any specific wedding plans.

He does graduate in January of next year, and he said, “we’ll move forward from there.” He said that finishing his master comes first. &nbsp,

His marriage with Mimi, Chen Xi said, was surprising.

When he signed up for an online language-exchange app four years ago in Singapore, straight before the pandemic, they became close friends.

” When I met her, it was n’t like I was trying to date her or anything. I was only trying to learn Chinese”, he chuckled. ” We merely started from there and she was like:’ I want to know Singlish!’ and I said: ‘ Positive, I can tell you Singlish!'”

They eventually became a beat and eventually developed into a commodity. In fact, everything happened so naturally, Chen Xi ca n’t pinpoint the exact moment they started dating. &nbsp,

” We’ve been dating for four years,” he said. Details- intelligent, it’s difficult for me to give you a certain answer also”, he laughed. &nbsp,

” It really was n’t anything at first because, when we got to know each other, she was still in Vietnam ( for work ). Then the shutdown happened and we all may n’t function so I just tried to clean up my Chinese, and the friendship only developed from it”, he said, adding that they were only “online penpals” first. &nbsp,

Chen Xi said he made certain his family especially his grandmother, father and younger sister&nbsp, Chen Yixin&nbsp, got to know&nbsp, Mimi before taking things to the next stage.

” When she came to Singapore, I was like:’ Permit me get you about!’ and my home has always been very inviting. They would be like:’ Travel let’s go for poultry rice! Let’s consider bak kut da! ‘”, he shared, adding that it’s been a bit of a” mix- social journey”.

When asked if there is a language barrier between his family and Mimi, the actor said it is n’t a problem because they can communicate in English.

” But my dad is more secure with Mandarin, so we go slow and try to speak at our best”, he explained.

It was n’t all soft- sailing for the couple. When Chen Xi and Mimi made the decision to do their studies in the UK last month, he claimed they would have to call it quits.

” When I finalised my trip to the UK, I thought: ‘ Sorry everybody, this is n’t gonna work out’. Then she told me that she got a card ( to operate in England )”, said Chen Xi.

Mimi was able to work in the UK because of the remoteness of her job. She moved it with Chen Xi, and their relation blossomed there as a result. &nbsp,

” That’s why I said, whatever only worked out but smoothly”, he chirped. &nbsp,
