- Partnership with Khazanah over Malaysia Short-Term Employment Programme 2022
For the second consecutive year, General Assembly Malaysia (GA Malaysia) will partner with Khazanah Nasional to deliver the Malaysia Short Term- Employment Programme (MySTEP). MySTEP was developed to help create 80, 000 jobs this year and it is one of the parts under the JaminKerja initiative.
GA Malaysia will equip MySTEP participants with in-demand digital abilities through virtual world class, instructor-led courses in a single of three digital disciplines – information analytics, digital marketing and advertising, and user experience design.
During the four-month training course, participants will encounter GA’s award-winning electronic bootcamps, followed by an organized employability curriculum which will equip them with tools to seek meaningful employment such as business communications and personal branding.
Participants may also earn a month-to-month allowance of US$452 (RM2, 000) through the entire programme. The programme also includes a three-month placement with one of GA Malaysia’s almost 200 local hiring partners.
For GA Malaysia, the ultimate aim of the particular programme is to provide individualised support in order to each participant so they secure long-term work in a role they find meaningful.
“With the national unemployment rate hovering around 4% and a quarter of Malaysian jobs in danger of displacement due to the accelerating pace of digitalisation, MySTEP 2022 could hardly come at a much better time. As a global digital skills change company, General Set up is well-positioned to assist, particularly with our tested track record of placing 92% of reskilling graduates in-demand digital roles within 6 months of graduating. In addition , we will support our own MySTEP participants to obtain industry-ready skills plus earn valuable work experience whilst they will earn a month-to-month salary in preparing for full-time employment, ” said Toby Pereira, Chief Executive Officer of GA Malaysia.
“MySTEP 2022 will upskill Malaysians in digital plus professional skills plus support their changeover into long-term work. It is truly an alternative programme that looks beyond equipping participants with in-demand digital skills but ensuring that they chart a profession path that is significant and sustainable on their behalf, ” he provides.
To participate in MySTEP 2022, candidates must be beneath 30 years of age plus unemployed for at least three months. Applicants must hold either a level, diploma or professional certificate from any recognised institution of higher learning in Malaysia and not participated in any other MySTEP or similar programme.
