The storms even caused a raise at Block 67 Marine Drive to break down due to water entering the lift wheel.
Business at a convenience business in the same wall was also , disrupted for a few days.
PUB said that it , takes a critical view of such occurrences.
” Any harm to our water pipes may incur significant amounts of water waste, result in economic loss and cause disturbance and trouble to the public.
” Companies may refer to PUB’s Water Service Plan and exercise caution when carrying out design plays within close contact to water pipes. Companies are even required to ensure all necessary safety precautions are implemented before the resumption of runs.”
Under the Public Utilities Act, everyone who damages a water main or connecting hose with a width of 300mm or more may be jailed for up to three years, fined up to S$ 200, 000, or both.
Companies who carry out functions  , in the vicinity of water pipes without an approved program may be fined up to S$ 10, 000.
