A fresh SkillsFuture Workforce Development Grant will strengthen existing plans administered by Workforce Singapore and SkillsFuture Singapore to enable organizations train their workplace.  ,
The offer will provide higher cash assistance of up to 70 % for career redesign activities in addition to easing the application process for businesses.  ,
Moving from manual to modern operations has helped Union Air Freight stay competitive, in their opinion.  ,
” Freight forwarding is a very competitive market, and technologies changes all the time, but we also have to keep pace with the modifications”, said Mr Tan Liang Jian, managing chairman at Union Air Freight.  ,
” In the past, a lot of our tasks were quite paper-based, quite manual”, he noted.
” After the redesign and also with the flexibility of our program, things are a lot more automatic, and that frees up a lot of time for our staff to focus more on communicating, talking to clients and other sections”.
But for some people such as 62-year-old Richard Lee, the change may be difficult.  ,
” We have to go for training if we need to, and the ( simpler ) it is, the better”, said the operations manager.
He added that he thinks career redesign initiatives can help him focus on other jobs and discover new ways to enhance operations.  ,
To enable more seniors be employed, the Senior Employment Credit- which provides income balances to companies that hire Singaporean staff aged 60 and above, and are earning less than S$ 4, 000 ( US$ 2, 995 ) a quarter- will also be extended to end-2026.
