Thailand to remain top in Sustainable Development Goals

Following Thailand’s accomplishment of being named Asean’s Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ) leader for six consecutive years, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra pledged to continue to lead the government.

Ms Paetongtarn’s talk titled” Sustainable Thailand– Advancing with Changes”, were made at the Prime Minister’s Address Luncheon 2025 hosted by the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand ( JFCCT) in Bangkok yesterday.

Ms. Paetongtarn praised the government’s desire to foster versatile long-term socioeconomic development in Thailand. She claimed that in order to accomplish the goal, cooperation between the public and private areas is required to foster the attractiveness necessary for long-term success in the fast-paced global economy.

On international assistance for green development, the federal had pledged to finish all 17 SDG targets by 2030, she said.

Ms. Paetongtarn praised the nation’s remarkable progress toward the SDGs from 2019 to 2024.

Thailand ranked third in Asia in 2024 and 45th on the list of world officials for the SDGs.

She said the nation was also invited to sign up for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development ( OECD ) last year, which was a significant step toward becoming one in the future.

According to her, the proposal was based on the government’s cooperation with the OECD, including the support for socially responsible business practices and the proper support for carbon-neutral efforts in science and technology.

” These showed Thailand’s passion to work with the international company for sustainable growth”, said Ms Paetongtarn.

She also made reference to the nation’s desire for a flexible and lasting business that is focused on changing more sustainable economic growth into one that uses the resources to support the goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050 and a net-zero goal by 2065.

According to Ms. Paetongtarn about her administration’s future programs, projects are already being worked on to “promote environmental protection and a brighter, more sustainable future for people” by 2040.
