Visa applications sponsored by Singapore travel agency for terrorism-linked individuals were not approved: MHA

SINGAPORE: Visa applications sponsored by a travel agency for terrorism-linked individuals were not approved, the Ministry of Home Affairs ( MHA ) said on Thursday ( Feb 13 ).

MHA was responding to queries from CNA regarding disclosures earlier in the week that a Singapore-registered go company, &nbsp, linked to an Iranian-Malaysian partners, &nbsp, had sponsored card programs for foreigners with violence links to provide Singapore.

The couple may get deported and barred from re-entering Singapore, MHA said on Monday.

In its comment on Thursday, the department said 38-year-old Egyptian national Parvane Heidaridehkordi has left Singapore by Feb 17, seven days after her long-term visit go was cancelled. She was involved in&nbsp, operating the travel company.

Her father, 65-year-old Indonesian regional Soo Thean Ling, is now not in Singapore, said MHA. Because he is a member of Ms Parvane’s household, Mr. Soo, who is a permanent resident of Singapore, has been designated a prohibited immigrant.

Neither Ms Parvane nor Mr Soo was arrested, and studies so far have not found them to get involved in another terrorism-related activities, MHA told CNA.

The travel agency recently claimed that the MHA had been a front for an activity being led by a stranger based abroad. The company has been deregistered.

The government did not disclose the&nbsp, title of the travel company or other information of the sensor, citing “operational reasons”.
