Since the start of this month, Thailand has welcomed 4.8 million foreign visitors, with China coming in second.

According to statistics up to February 9, the 4.8 million international visitors generated 235 billion ringgit in revenue, according to Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong on Wednesday.

Foreign tourists topped the list with 825, 617 customers, followed by Malaysia with 617, 631, Russia with 330, 628, South Korea with 263, 572, and India with 232, 828.

Between Feb 3 and 9, long-haul industry saw a 4.15 % boost in visitors, driven by a boom in Russian and French tourists. Visitors from these two nations rose by 41.5 %, boosted by business advertising efforts, further flights, and school holidays.

But, short-haul industry slowed after the Chinese New Year activities, with South Korean visitors declining due to domestic issues such as aerospace injuries, political issues and currency fluctuations.

In consequence, there were 837, 407 international arrivals in total for the first week of this month, an 11.6 % decrease from the previous month. Ordinary everyday visitors were 119, 630.

From Monday to this Sunday, international visitors are expected to remain firm, supported by state promotional efforts, including the” Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Time 2025″ promotion and other hospitality and sports-related activities, Mr Sorawong said.

The state is implementing more security measures to regain confidence in Chinese visitors who have been concerned about Thai citizens being trafficked into Myanmar’s fraud centers.
