Worker dies at construction site in Raffles Place after ground gives way

A worker died on Saturday ( Jan 25 ) at a construction site in Raffles Place after the ground under his feet shifted.

The Ministry of Manpower ( MOM) responded to CNA’s inquiries by stating that the workplace incident took place at a construction site at 24 Raffles Place at around 2.30pm.

A 31-year-old Bangladeshi employee was lifting equipment when the ground under him collapsed, forcing him to drop into the ground, according to MOM.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medic.

The Clifford Center was again located on the building blog, which is currently undergoing renovation.

Around 3pm, a man fell into a piling crater at the page, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

According to SCDF, Marina Bay Fire Station firefighters and the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team ( DART ) responded to the situation.

Two DART rescuers were lowered into the piling crater, which is about 3 meters deep, to liberate the person from a share of mud, according to the statement. Using top save products, including rescue ropes and harnesses, were used to lower the person.

The Singapore Police Force said that based on initial investigations, there was no bad enjoy suspected.

The surface close to digging must be assessed and properly reinforced to reduce the risk of earth collapse, according to MOM.

Companies are also urged to reevaluate the workplace, especially after a heavy downpour, to assure they remain healthy for workers in light of the recent damp weather, it added.

The occupier of the site is Woh Hup ( Private ) Limited, and the worker is employed by Nardev Builders. The creator of the job is S. L. Properties Limited.

MOM announced that it was looking into the event and had issued a stop-work attempt for substructure construction works to the occupant.
