Motorcyclist dies after accident along PIE; Tower Transit bus driver arrested

SINGAPORE: A 52-year-old motorcyclist died on Wednesday ( Nov 27 ) after he was involved in an accident with a Tower Transit bus.

Around 10.20am, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to inquiries from CNA by being informed of the accident along the Pan Island Expressway ( PIE ) in the direction of Changi Airport, close to the Lorong 2 Toa Payoh exit.

No additional injuries have been reported from the motorcyclist’s death, which was confirmed by an SCDF nurse at the picture.

The authorities said the bus driver, a 27-year-old person, was arrested for “driving without due care and attention causing death”.

At the time of the incident, Tower Transit claimed in a Twitter post earlier on Wednesday that the vehicle was operating the company 966 route and that none of them had suffered any injuries.

” No terms you fully convey our sympathies and condolences to the community and loved ones of the motorcyclist”, Tower Transit said in the blog, adding that it was “deeply saddened” by the crash.

In this challenging day, we are making every effort to reach out to them for all the help and support needed.

The vehicle technician said that it is assisting with police studies.

In response to questions from CNA afterwards on Wednesday, Tower Transit said:” We have spoken with the motorcyclist’s home to offer our condolences and support during this difficult period.

The bus’s travellers were properly transferred onto another vehicle, according to the statement.
