Veteran radio DJ Belinda Sunshine opens up about her breast cancer battle and her hopes for the future

For television fans in Singapore, Belinda Yeo– or Belinda Sunshine, as she’s more widely known – is a speech some have listened to while growing up.

In 1989, she was one of the trailblazer DJs of 987FM ( then called Great 10 ) and dazzled audiences with her cheerful character. Following her stay at Mediacorp, Yeo spread her feathers and pursued different functions, including being a teacher, a instructor and a consultant.

On the flip side, rubber enthusiasts will recognize her as the owner of The Attic, one of Singapore’s oldest report businesses before its demise in 2021.

In October 2023, Yeo, who declined to reveal her time, discovered that she had a tumor in her right breast. She had a 3 cm long tumor that was diagnosed with Phase 2 breast cancer after numerous checkups. &nbsp,

” Anything happened so quickly, and they all decided that I needed to have chemotherapy to reduce my tumor.” She revealed in a call with CNA Lifestyle on Tuesday ( Nov 26 that they advised me to undergo surgery to finish clearing the [cancer ] cells.

” I had to go through remedy, which was awful because chemotherapy actually activates your immune system and durability.

” Yet my weight went down … Now, I’m just 35kg,” she shared.
