SINGAPORE: A , St Joseph’s Institution ( SJI ) International student has died while on an overseas school trip, the school said in a statement issued late on Friday ( Nov 8 ).
According to CNA, the journey was conducted in the Maldives in connection with a whale shark study project.
” We confirm the departure of one of our students during a recent college research trip abroad with a very sad news.” Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family during this difficult time” , , said Dr Michael Johnston, the school’s chief executive officer.
In this tough time, our thoughts and condolences are with the home. We are offering the home all we can to cope with the tragic loss that the school community is currently in.
” Out of regard for the mother’s protection, please understand that we are able to share more information at this time, “he added.
According to SJI International’s site, the university offers outdoor training programs – , termed” excursions” – , for its primary and high school areas.
CNA’s issues regarding the student’s age and the manner of death were not addressed by the school. Additionally, it did not mention the destination of the kids.
