Pentetongtarn is traveling to Lima for the Asia-Pacific officials ‘ annual meeting.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that Thailand will support a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP ) during the Apec summit in Peru next week.
The 30th Apec Summit is scheduled for Nov 14 through Nov 16 in Lima, with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa among the speakers.
The conference will have the style” Empower.” Include. Grow”. According to government official Nikorndej Balankura, it goes against the Thai administration’s policy of enhancing and expanding economic opportunities for Thai citizens.
The Thai government will use this as a platform to promote an FTAAP, a concept that the Apec Business Advisory Council ( Abac ) first proposed in 2004. It emphasises green growth, development and equality, which will also encourage economic development through the use of technology and innovation.
The FTAAP may help showcase one of Thailand’s advantages by opening the place to all trade and investment opportunities, where all businesses may benefit from a more receptive and suitable setting, according to the government.
When Thailand hosted the Apec conference in 2022, the FTAAP plan and its multi-year job program was launched. It contributed to advancing the Apec Putrajaya Vision 2040 for an empty, active, resilient and peaceful Asia-Pacific area.
Ms. Paetongtarn may meet with business leaders at the conference this year, then engage in discussions with the abac, and take part in related activities.
According to Mr. Nikorndej, the prime minister will discuss potential investment and trade opportunities with the leaders of Latin American nations, including Colombian and Argentinian economic leaders.
Latin America, a lucrative business with a lot of potential for Thai owners, is where the government wants to expand its economic ties.
He added that the Thai group may meet with TikTok, Microsoft, and Google representatives, and that the government will use this opportunity to showcase people-to-people markets through the soft power.
Ms. Paetongtarn may make a trip to Los Angeles to lead a meeting of Thai ministers and officials on November 11 through 13. Prior to the Apec Summit, Ms. Paetongtarn will attend the meeting.
