Fire breaks out on ship in East Johor Straits; all crew members safe

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore ( MPA ) reported on Monday morning ( October 21 ) that a fire broke out in a ship’s engine room in the East Johor Straits.

Officials claimed they received an alert at around 10.30am about the fireplace on the Malta-flagged MED ATLANTIC in Singapore lakes.

Two authorities coast guard ships, three sea rescue and recovery vessels from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), two push boats, and an MPA patrol craft were deployed.

Around 30 sea firefighting experts from the fire stations in Brani Marine and West Coast Marine, according to SCDF, came to the scene.

” Upon introduction, SCDF used a water track to cool the exterior of the vessel”, it said in a Twitter post at about 2.30pm.

” Cooling of the ship’s outside is known as barrier cooling, this helps to reduce the heat of the ship’s metallic structure”.

Additionally, SCDF stated that fire activities are continuing.

All 22 staff people of the ship have left, according to MPA, and are said to be secure with no injuries. &nbsp, &nbsp, The fleet is now anchored.

In a news release, the expert claimed that” the area’s vehicle traffic is unaffected.” The MPA is issuing maritime broadcasts to keep passing ships out of the incident area.

The Singapore Food Agency, according to the statement, is carefully monitoring the situation and has advised fish farms in the area to take the necessary precautionary steps.
