Oil spill containment measures activated after leakage from Shell land-based pipeline

SINGAPORE: &nbsp, Oil spill containment measures have been activated after a leak from a Shell land-based pipeline on Sunday ( Oct 20 ) morning.

Around 1pm, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore ( MPA ) reported that it&nbsp was called to report an oil leakage from a Shell land-based pipeline between Bukom Island and Bukom Kecil.

In a media statement on Sunday evening, it was reported that the hole “had stopped at resource” at around 5:30 am.

Shell claimed in response to CNA’s questions that the fuel leak at Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Singapore was stopped at around 3pm.

Fuel sparkles have been found at the water stream between the Bukom Besar and Kechil territories since late night.

We have dispatched disaster response experts to handle the circumstance.

According to MPA, Shell has deployed dispersant-equipped art to clear up the oil spotted close to the hole and has placed containment booms away from the leak site.

Seven MPA art are dispersed, along with art from Singapore Salvage Engineers, the contractor, according to the MPA.

” MPA has also activated its drone and satellite features to help with the sight of the oil spill.”

Important government agencies have been alerted and to report any oil observations, MPA said, adding that&nbsp, there are no fresh oil observations as at 6pm.

The MPA’s Port Operations Control Centre, in addition, has issued maritime safety broadcasts urging passing vessels to stay away from the page.

There is no influence to tracking safety, MPA said.

There are no accidents reported&nbsp, and we have informed the appropriate government, said Shell.

” We work on resolving this as quickly as possible, and the health and safety of our people and the environment are our best priorities,” it continued.
