Asean Foreign Ministers’ meeting kicks off in Laos ahead of 44th and 45th Asean Summits

The Asean Foreign Ministers ‘ Meeting ( AMM) has already taken place in Laos ‘ capital ahead of the ceremony for the 44th and 45th Asean Summits and Related Summits, which will take place on October 9 at the National Convention Center (NCC).

Key topics to be discussed include Asean community-building work, proper future guidance, and the administration of Asean’s outside relations.

The group from Malaysia is led by Foreign Minister Datuk Sera Mohamad Hasan and Secretary-General Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin.

In addition to the AMM, Mohamad is expected to participate in the 28th Asean Political-Security Community ( APSC ) Council meeting and the 35th Asean Coordinating Council (ACC ) meeting, alongside his Asean counterparts at the NCC.

Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, the minister of investment, trade, and industry, is scheduled to meet with the Economic Research Institute for Asean and East Asia ( ERIA ), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific ( Unescap ), and the South China Morning Post as well. He is also scheduled to attend several bilateral meetings.

Later in the evening, Tengku Zafrul will attend the World Economic Forum ( WEF ) Special Reception at the Asean Summit 2024, focusing on enabling Asean’s digital future.

Moreover, Malaysian adviser to Laos, Edi Irwan Mahmud, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to arrive in Vientiane on Tuesday night.

” Anwar will guide the Malay group to the Conferences and is scheduled to attend conferences with Asean’s seven speech partners, particularly Australia, China, Japan, India, South Korea, the United States, and Canada.

” He may also join in the Asean Plus Three Summit, East Asia Summit, and the Asean-United Countries Summit, “Edi told the Malay advertising.

During the summits ‘ closing ceremony on October 11th, Laos, the head of ASEAN 2024, will hand the article to Malaysia. – Bernama
