Floods inundate Thailand’s northern tourist city of Chiang Mai

BANGKOK: Chiang Mai, Thailand’s northern city popular with tourists, was inundated by widespread flooding on Saturday ( Oct 5 ) as its main river overflowed its banks following heavy seasonal rainfall.

Authorities called for some emergency and said they were working to clear obstacles from waters and drains and pump water out of home regions.

In the capital, dozens of homes were constructed to house residents who had been flooded.

The Ping River, which runs along the city’s eastern border, is at historically high rates, and it has been doing so since Friday, according to the Chiang Mai town state.

The municipal irrigation office, but, forecasts that by Saturday, the water level would probably return to normal and remain steady.

According to Indian press, efforts to remove elephants and other pets from a number of temples and gardens on the outskirts of the city were going on Saturday.

About 125 animals, along with other pets, were taken to health. Some animals&nbsp, from the Elephant Nature Park escaped on their own to get higher floor.

About 10 bird homes in the area have been flooded.
