Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressed her satisfaction with the results of her participation in Qatar’s third Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD ) summit, noting that many nations showed an interest in investing in Thailand, particularly in “food storage” initiatives.
Ms. Paetongtarn told the media that several nations expressed interest in expanding their assistance with Thailand, especially in the fields of technology and knowledge, following her speech at her first conference on Thursday in Doha, Qatar.
The primary minister mentioned that she had talks with Egyptian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan.
She also had an visitors with Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait.
As part of the country’s conscious effort to ensure food security, Thailand proposed to function as a food backup hub for Middle Eastern nations. She said that many nations expressed an interest in funding this task.
During her conversation at the conference, Ms Paetongtarn said:” As home to approximately 60 % of the country’s population, Asia is the heart of global energy and meal protection– the powerhouse and also the home of the world”.
She continued,” Thailand’s power in the food and agriculture industry can contribute to the local economy as well as the government’s intention to meet the growing global demand for food products.”
She urged ACD countries to strengthen their business sites and align their standards to maintain robustness and resilience of the world’s food supply chain.
She also urged all parties involved in the Middle East’s rising tensions to instantly avert all hostilities, protect civilian infrastructure, and abide by international humanitarian law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The prime minister stressed the importance of remaining a part of the global market by inviting ACD associates to work together to create new business corridors that will improve communication and promote economic growth across the globe.
Following Ms Paetongtarn’s advantages of Thailand’s foods warehouse project, some bilateral and multilateral discussions with different countries were conducted to help more dialogue and action, according to Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan.
Mr. Pichai pointed out that the Middle East’s dangerous security situation may have an impact on the region’s food safety and that countries in this region may need to have a system to ensure food supply when necessary.
He claimed that Thailand has the capacity to provide the location with ready-to-eat food supplies in 24 hours in addition to serving as the Middle East’s major food warehouse.
