Cordlife learnt ‘valuable lessons’, implemented ‘robust’ measures in response to mishandling of cord blood units

SINGAPORE: Personal cord blood banks Cordlife said it has learnt “valuable lessons” after a months-long expulsion over its&nbsp, mishandling of cord blood products, and has implemented “robust” security measures to cooperate with the Ministry of Health ( MOH)’s regulatory requirements. &nbsp,

These measures include an improved “lab monitoring system” that allows for real-time monitoring of its Singapore facility, it said on Friday ( Aug 30 ) in response to CNA’s queries.

The business added that it has also taken more “robust safe measures” to make sure unbroken operations even in adverse circumstances. It claimed that the business had also hired more knowledgeable technical staff members and that its employees had received “extensive training.” &nbsp,

MOH gave Cordlife the green light on Thursday to begin cord blood banks services in a limited capacity. The business may acquire, test, process and store no more than 30 models of novel cord blood per quarter, from Sep 15, 2024, to Jan 13, 2025.

MOH requested Cordlife to “adopt a carefully calibrated view to eventually ramp up the delivery of its services in order to ensure the happiness of its customers.”

In order to do this, Cordlife told CNA that it would prioritize the rehabilitation of its Singaporean obstetricians in order to keep them up to date with its most recent operating procedures for cord blood selection and to keep their staff trained regularly to keep their competence and expertise. &nbsp,

The business further stated that it would begin its educational efforts over time to raise awareness of the advantages of cord blood banking. It would also try to tell parents that it has “taken all safe measures to safeguard their boy’s wire blood unit” during those activities. &nbsp,

” We aim to demonstrate to MOH that these changes are green beyond the four-month time”, said Cordlife.

It further stated that it would work closely with the government to organize for an examination before the company’s upcoming cord blood banks license renewal, which will take effect on January 13, 2025.
