Club hostess jailed for drug offences; suspected supplier and boyfriend fell to his death on CNB arrival

A person who moved to Singapore to operate as a team guest started using marijuana after being introduced to it by her Singaporean boyfriend.

But when Central Narcotics Bureau ( CNB) officials showed up at her husband’s straight, he immediately fell to his dying and she was arrested.

South Korean Jeon Suji, 32, was sentenced to jail on Wednesday ( Aug 14 ) for just over two years. Jeon, however, may get released on the same day as she has been remanded for about the same time.

Jeon admitted to having and consuming marijuana on one count. Another two use of drugs charges were taken into account.

Her dad worked for Hyundai Steel before passing away, according to Jeon’s attorneys, Mimi Ahn and Genesa Tan, both of whom are Focus Law Asia’s professionals.

HER BACKGROUND, ACCORDING TO DEFENCE

She first arrived in Singapore in January 2021 to operate as a guest at Clarke Quay’s Illusions team.

This happened after a friend of hers suggested the task. Up in Korea, she had worked part-time work, including selling clothing online.

Jeon returned to Korea recently when the league she worked at closed during the COVID-19 crisis, but returned to work at another team, E9, in February 2022.

She met her sweetheart, Singaporean Derrick Liew, a fortnight afterward while she was working at the pub.

According to Jeon’s doctors, Mr Liew told her that he was separated from his Asian woman.

In mid-May 2022, the couple began dating and Jeon moved into Mr Liew’s level. &nbsp,

According to Mr. Liew, he would supposedly give Jeon cannabis at home, and the pair would take the drug up. Jeon’s attorneys claimed she only ever took marijuana again before receiving it at a club.

On Jul 7, 2022, Jeon was woken up by Mr Liew, who said the officers were at the entrance.

According to Jeon’s doctors, Mr Liew finally began to climb out of an open window. He fell from the window ledge and passed away after.

CNB soldiers detained Jeon and seized a number of exhibits from the apartment, which turned out to be at least 4.05 grams of hemp.

Jeon admitted that the “weed” was for her own private use.

She provided semen tests, which also tested positive for a cannabinol variant.

Jeon’s attorneys claimed that she was remanded for medical evaluation, with the examiner’s doctor claiming that she was “anxious and frequently tearful.”

She likewise appeared to be “in rejection of the truth of her husband’s death,” as she frequently sought information on what had happened to him despite having witnessed him fall to the ground from the 15th floor.

She was diagnosed with anxiety disorder.

Jeon’s attorneys sought 22 months ‘ detention, saying that she greatly regrets the event and is a first-time criminal who pleaded guilty first.

SOBERING DRUG STATISTICS: Determine

In punishment, District Judge Paul Quan cited” disturbing data” on Singapore’s existing drug condition, with the number of substance abusers increasing by 10 per share from the year before and the number of cannabis users reaching a 10-year higher.

The judge argued that the” spiralling” world situation is also a “grim reminder of the different reality that we in Singapore may then have to deal with if we let down our fight against drugs.”

” Despite ongoing work, the harm brought on by drug crimes is increasing in Singapore as we start to see our fair share of fatal crimes attributed to pharmaceutical apply,” said Judge Quan.

“Eternal vigilance is the price to be paid,” he says.

He claimed that Jeon’s casual drug use was” fairly counter-balanced” by her boyfriend’s offer of the substance.

The prosecutor did not consider her a first-time criminal.

He reaffirmed that foreigners who live in Singapore are expected to uphold” the laws of our country, only as they would in their own places,” and that they will be held to the same standards as people who do so when it comes to breaking the law.
