Man caught smuggling 100 snakes in his trousers into China

According to habit authorities, a person tried to bring more than 100 lived snakes into mainland China by stuffing them in his pants.

The unnamed traveller was stopped after passing through the “nothing to declare” gate at the crossing between semi-autonomous Hong Kong and the city of Shenzhen, officials said.

Upon examination, he had 104 reptiles in” six paint tie bags” inside his skirts, a declaration from China Customs said.

” Each case was found to contain life snakes in all kinds of styles, sizes and shades”, it added.

A pair of brokers peering into clear plastic bags stuffed with live red, green, and whitened snakes is captured in a video released by Chinese customs.

Although they were primarily little, the haul was a sizable number of slithering reptiles that anyone could bring in their pants.

People are prohibited from bringing in non-native species into the region without permission thanks to strict security and disease control regulations.

” Those who break the rules will be… held liable in accordance with the law”, the customs authority said, without specifying the man’s punishment.

A person was stopped trying to smuggle in five reptiles hidden inside her blouse in 2023 at the same passing level.

China is one of the world’s biggest animal trafficking hubs and authorities have been cracking down on the shady trade in recent years.
