SINGAPORE: During the COVID- 19 crisis, when meetings were limited to five people, two men hosted a medication- fuelled birthday bash for 34 guests at their shared house.
The men were detained by the police at the time of their arrest, and 22 patrons ‘ blood samples contained bliss or MDMA.
One of the two hosts, 33-year-old Singaporean Edmund Zachary Ong Wei Ming, admitted guilt on Monday ( May 27 ) to three counts of allowing his unit to be used for drug consumption, consuming a drug, and allowing others to enter the unit to celebrate their birthday during the pandemic.
Sentencing did take into account additional two fees for using two different kinds of drugs.
Ong’s reported inc- number, 35- year- old Malay Jonathan Goh Wai Sern, is at huge, with a warrant of arrest against him.
THE Event
According to the jury, Ong has been residing in Goh’s host room since September or October 2021, according to court records.
He paid Goh S$ 1, 000 a month for hire.
From about 7pm on Mar 26, 2022, when COVID- 19 regulations were still in position, Goh and Ong hosted a birthday bash for another person.  ,
A total of 34 friends attended the group.
The patrons mingled with one another, drank beer, sang music, ate, danced and took medicines at the party, the prosecutors said.
Ong was aware that at the group, people were taking drugs like MDMA, GHB, and morphine.
He acknowledged that the attendees were passing round and consuming a few cups of red wine and crushed cocaine on the living room stand.
Some even took joy capsules. Ong claimed he was aware of the fact that his customers were ingesting marijuana and that it was allowed to continue.
The police arrived at the location the day before about 6am, and they apprehended Ong and 35 other persons. How the government became aware of the situation was not disclosed.
After his arrest, Ong gave two blood tests, which were found to contain norketamine, also known as K.
He even admitted to consuming G-water or GHB, as well as MDMA and joy. He claimed he took the medication because he had been stressed out prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
22 other friends, in addition to themselves, had taken joy at the group, as seen in their blood tests.
Quek Lu Yi, the deputy people attorney, wants Ong to spend about two years in prison.
She claimed that the gathering’s goal was “frivolous,” with 34 visitors considerably over the five-person control at the time.
The meeting likewise lasted for about 11 hours, with the only exception of when police stormed the home.
Ong may go back to court in June for imprisonment.
