Myanmar ethnic armed group says it captured hundreds of junta personnel

In the most recent blow to the military, a Myanmar ethnic armed party announced on May 6 that it had taken hundreds of coup staff slave in northern Rakhine position.

Since the Arakan Army ( AA ) attacked security forces in November, breaking a ceasefire that had largely been in place since the junta’s 2021 coup, clashes have rocked Rakhine.

Sittwe, the state capital, is still held by the military, but AA soldiers have seized control of nearby towns, including bases close to India’s and Bangladesh’s borders.

A video released by the AA’s media channel said the group had captured” Military Operations Command 15 ( MOC 15 )” near the town of Buthidaung, around 90km north of Sittwe.

Local media reports frequent clashes around Buthidaung in recent days, but the movie did not specify when its fighters had taken control of the location.

” The picture record of the deputy chief of MOC 15 after a certain interval of siege”, read a message published in Burmese, Chinese and English.

After a “final abuse” the junta forces had “faced entire defeat and surrendered”, it said.

A long line of men were seen marching through a discipline in a column that appeared to be wearing what appeared to be defense garb.

Some were in pants, T- tops and sandals while others were never wearing any shoes. In some movies, the gentlemen were accompanied by women and children.

Some were being carried in improvised stretchers while one person had a tape around his leg.

Additionally, the film showed gun-toting people standing in rows in a clearing and about 200 other people.
