The Thai Meteorological Department ( TMD) is warning the people, particularly those living in the country’s northern provinces, to prepare for higher- than- regular conditions, which are expected at the end of the quarter and will last until early April.
According to the producer of the TMD’s Meteorological Observation Division, Somkuan Tonjan, some parts of Thailand, especially the lower north, central and eastern regions, may see some rainfall between now and Thursday as a result of a prevailing south wind.
When the weather clears, temperatures will begin to climb, and the changing climate will produce certain illnesses to rise, he said.
From March 30 to April 3, he said, higher than average temperatures are forecast for the North of the country.
Meanwhile, in the South, an easterly wind will bring continuous rainfall to some areas, but windy conditions are n’t expected across the region during the period.
In yet another development, several provinces in the North and Northeast reported unhealthy levels of PM2.5 pollutants, with Chiang Mai reporting on Monday as the city with the fifth-worst air pollution index of 162.
