The Criminal Court has fined a man and his wife 1, 000 ringgit each and sentenced them to 18 months in prison for participating in an anti-government demonstration in 2021 on the Din Daeng road.

On August 29, 2021, Rangsan Boonpueng and his wife Pranee traveled to Bangkok’s Din Daeng city in a car registered in Phuket, according to the prosecution. The license plates of their vehicles were covered in face masks, and the two were carrying glass balls, a bullet-proof vest, which is regarded as military equipment, as well as slingshots.

They joined around 25 different people in a objection that was held without official authority under the Din Daeng road and on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, according to prosecution.

The opposition was ordered to stop by crowd control police, but they disobeyed. Instead, they used slingshots to launch crystal balls at the law and ignite unrest while setting car tires and other components on fire.

The couple was accused of breaking the 2005 evacuation order, 2015 disease manage act, Criminal Code, War Materials Control Act, and other laws.

The accused were initially given a two-year, six-month mixed jail sentence and fines of 2,000 ringgit each. The charges were increased to 1, 000 ringgit each, and the jail terms were reduced to 18 months.
