Road repurposing works completed at Tiong Bahru; covered linkway to be built by year-end

The majority of locals told CNA that the neighborhood has become safer as a result of the modifications.

” In the past, I wouldn’t have allowed( my kids ) to come down because of the traffic on this stretch. But then, I’m at ease. One resident who brought her daughter to the recently created space to play said,” My children are lucky that there is this area for them to draw, ride motorbikes and motorbikes, and more.”

” After work, I walk this road home at night. Another resident pointed to the wide path and said,” It is very simple to walk.

Along the road, benches have also been set up for locals and visitors to obtain and relax.

Nevertheless, some locals respond in a conflicting way. One person claimed that the road has negatives, particularly the seats where people stay up late.

” People will sit around and dust, talk aloud, and consume.” Ms. Joy, who lived in Tiong Bahru for 15 years before getting married and moving out, said,” That is not great because there are people around who need to rest and sleep.”

She then visits her aging family in the neighborhood once a week. She continued by saying that, particularly on cloudy days, there aren’t many safe places for seniors like her to table and disembark their cars.
