SINGAPORE: Several roads will be closed to automobiles this Saturday (Jul 23) to facilitate the first preview of the National Day March (NDP) at the Marina Bay floating platform .
Traffic delays are required along Raffles Method, Temasek Avenue, Bayfront Avenue, Raffles Boulevard, Republic Boulevard, Robinson Road, Cecil Street, Collyer Quay and Nicoll Highway.
The police have urged members of the public to use community transport to travel to these types of areas.
During the closures, access will only be granted to authorised vehicles and police plus emergency vehicles.
“Auxiliary police officers and Singapore Armed Forces marshals will be deployed in the affected junctions to help and direct road users, ” said the police in a news release upon Wednesday.
Motorists travelling to Suntec City and Marina Square from Raffles Avenue, Raffles Boulevard, and Bayfront Avenue should use alternative routes via Nicoll Highway or Rochor Road leading to Temasek Boulevard.
Car parking restrictions along the affected roads will be firmly enforced and automobiles found parking unlawfully or causing obstruction will be towed, said the police.
During the NDP survey, the public should refrain from aerial activities like soaring unmanned aircraft, kite-flying and hoisting associated with tethered balloons in the area, the police added.
