Thirty illegal migrants, including nine children, and two Thai drivers had been arrested by the military in the northern provinces of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

In Chiang Rai, the patrol from the Pha Muang Task Pressure spotted a group of people not really far from the edge walking towards a waiting pickup truck on the road at Pha Mee village in tambon Wiang Phang Kham of Mae Sai district upon Friday morning.

They were halted and questioned. There were 11 illegal border crossers from Myanmar, and one guide.

The migrant workers said they had entered from Myanmar in to Thailand using an organic border crossing. These were heading for jobs in Bangkok. All had been detained for legal action and expulsion.

Within Chiang Mai, troops from the Pha Muang Task Force stopped a van for the search at Hammer Makong checkpoint within Ping Khong associated with Chiang Dao area on Thursday mid-day.

The van had a Thai driver plus 19 passengers, 9 of them children. None of the migrants acquired travel  documents.

The grown ups told the arresting team they had unlawfully sneaked into Thailand using a natural edge crossing and planned to get jobs in Chiang Dao district.

All were handed over to Chiang Dao police station to get legal proceedings plus deportation.
