SINGAPORE: A total of 38 people – comprising 26 men and 12 women aged in between 21 and 80 – are being investigated for different offences following shared enforcement operations within the Geylang area, the police said in a seo press releases on Friday (Jul 8).
The multi-agency raids, which happened between Jun twenty-seven and Jul 2, targeted illicit actions including illegal betting, vice activities, sale and possession of duty-unpaid cigarettes, sale of illegal sexual enhancement medication and unlawful hawking.
The enforcement procedures were led by Bedok Police Department and supported by officers from the Lawbreaker Investigation Department (CID), Central Narcotics Agency (CNB), Health Sciences Authority (HSA), Migration & Checkpoints Power (ICA), Singapore Traditions, Land Transportation Authority (LTA), Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Singapore Foods Agency (SFA).
In a joint observance operation against illegal gambling involving ICA and MOM, the police raided a commercial unit along Geylang Road.
Eight men and seven women, aged between 22 and 80, had been arrested for their suspected involvement in gambling offences under the Typical Gaming Houses Behave. More than S$12, 000 in cash and gambling things were seized.
Another series of joint operations along the Geylang Lorongs involving HSA, ICA and CNB resulted in the seizure of unregistered wellness products. The confiscated items consisted of cough syrup and numerous sexual enhancement items with an estimated associated with around S$9, 000.
Three men are being investigated underneath the Health Products React.
2 men and one female are also being looked into under the Tobacco (Control associated with Advertisements and Sale) Act. Electronic vaporisers and elements with an estimated associated with S$700 were grabbed during the operations.
The follow-up raid had been conducted by the HSA following intelligence from the operations, top to the seizure of more e-vaporisers and components with an estimated value of S$50, 000.
